Mine was meant to be easy to remember. My first name followed by my badge number/call sign. Too many other usernames and passwords floating around in my head from work to not have an easy one for here lol.
In my late twenties I was already going bald and the guys in blues band I was playing with at the time noted that there were no harp players (harmonica) with handles like some of the other well known blues players like Pinetop Perkins or Willy Big Eyes Smith,
so much to my chagrin I became Old Mapletop and the moniker has stuck to this day.
My username comes from my nickname Stogie which was given to me by one of my high school teachers because I also smoke cigars an the 300 comes from cb radio for talking what's called skip making my cb handle Stogie300 I also am a truck driver an most of my friends an local drivers all know me as stogie so I just keep all my usernames as Stogie300 😎🚬
My user name is kind of a long, sort of weird, story. About 20 years ago I joined a historical reenactment group. Me and my friends were interested in early Scottish history. The otter was on our "clan badge" and was a totem of sorts. One of the ladies in the group carried a stuffed toy otter to an event. She came back and and told us about a small child who played with the otter as if it was a dinosaur. Making it roar as it tromped about.
This got the nerd in me wondering what the nomenclature of an otter dinosaur would be. Lutra is a genus of otters. -saurus is lizard. So the "otter-lizard" was born. I have been using it as a username for years.
I am a self proclaimed nerd. I read books, play video games and play several different role playing games. I play World of Warcraft, well, a little less than i used to. There are two sides to the game, The Alliance and The Horde. When I began, i started on the alliance side, but a few years later wanted to see what the horde side was like. i was horde curious, and the name stuck.
@MaukaPiper - If you haven't done so already, go to the Welcome New Members discussion and introduce yourself. Let us know what you like to smoke - pipe and tobacco - and about where you live.
Before becoming a bi-vocational Anglican priest I was a third-order Franciscan for five years, hence Friar. Third-order meaning I was someone who didn't live in community, but rather lives out in the world, works a job and has a family.
As far as Jay that's simply because my name is Jason.
"Old Toby... It's the finest weed in the south valley," said Bilbo Baggins. That's the story behind my username. Honestly, it's just memorable piece of dialogue that I remember from Lord of the Rings. Memorable simply because when I see pipes, I think of my father. I'm grateful that his affinity for 'all things pipe' has fallen upon me.
Glad to be here... May all your bowls burn slowly 'n smoothly.
My username comes from being a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp. The Danner comes from a nick name given to me by my fellow marines because I had never heard of the Danner boot company. Ironically the Danner boot company had the Marine Corps contract for supplying our issued boots! Go figure!
