Hello, I am new here and have recently rekindled my love of pipes. I had smoking one been on and off for 25 years. Buying a pipe, then selling a pipe (brands over the years, Brigham Canadian, I like that filter, also tried a meerschaum lined) because of too much tongue bite from some blends and cigars are just easier. I do like flake tobacco a lot so far. My current pipe is a Chacom reverse calabash. I like many different kinds of blends, I do like VaPers and like hints of latakia. I also like some aromatics, mostly plums, vanilla.
I am curious if anyone has a good drying technique for tobaccos and do filters help? I know it is strange question but are there any good peppermint, spice (cinnamon, cloves) or orange flavored blends?
Welcome to all new comers! @PipeNPuzzle. Off the top of my head Rattrays Exotic Passion is a citrus/ orange flavor and Sutliff Makes several cinnamon based blends. Keep’em lit and cool burning!
@PipeNPuzzle Welcome aboard.....this is THE site to be for Pipes on the internet. The collective number of years of piping experience (both good and bad) has to be expressed as a "scientific number". Lots of good people here who actually care for one another. So sit back and enjoy.
In terms of a nice "spicy" blend I would recommend Sutliff "Christmas Spice" which is one of my favorite blends (and don't tell anyone, but I smoke it all year round).
Hello from Phoenix AZ! Newcomer here. Ive smoked pipes on and off the last 15 years. First took it up in the Navy. Ive really only smoked cob pipes (MM's) and only have had one briar, a Dr. Grabiw gifted to me from a girlfriend many years ago. I currently am on an OTC kick so am smoking sone PA, SWR, and Middleton cherry throughout the day. Cant really say which one I like best yet. Anyway, hope y'all are doing fine during all the craziness these days!
@PipeNPuzzle Welcome to the forum. If the tobacco is moist, I just sit it on a paper towel for about 10 minutes before loading into the bowl. If you leave it in a tin, once the vacuum seal is broken it will start to dry out on its own - especially non-aromatics.
As for "orange" blends, there is Rattray's Exotic Passion and Holger Dansk Original Orange. Exotic Passion, in my opinion, has more orange flavor and aroma but Original Orange is pretty good and is usually easier to find.
There are a lot of aromatic blends that contain cinnamon but I've never come across one that has a strong cinnamon flavor. The cinnamon is usually an additional flavor. I've found it in most of the aromatic Christmas or Winter blends but also in the Hearth & Home Egg Nog sold by Pipes & Cigars.
A good website for you to search out tobaccos is tobaccoreviews.com. Click on the "Search" tab and look under Advanced. You can then click on "show more search fields" and another window will come up giving you options for different search fields. One of them is for flavors.

Hello all. My name is Jeremiah Black and I am thankful to have found this source of pipe smoking fellowship! I heard about it through the Pipes Magazine Radio Show and can't wait to get involved. I live in western NC and there is little to no pipe community here.
Hello, all! I just found this forum while looking at Half And Half's website. I am 54 years old and started smoking a pipe ...oh gosh, probably when I was 20 or so. I'm just picking it back up after a layover of about a decade. I have armed myself with four or five good estate briars and three new cobs, as well as an array of various tobaccos, many of which (mostly Codger Burleys, although I also have the decidedly non-codger Five Brothers) represent STG brands. (There is nothing like Half And Half, Sir Walter Raleigh, Velvet, or Lane Limited Ready Rubbed in a corncob. Or, indeed, Velvet or LL Ready Rubbed in just about anything.)
