Well Brothers, I made my decisions. I went to my favorite mixture 1/3 Edward G. Robinson and 2/3 Half & Half(I call it in me Shelby Foote Mixture) in the new Savinelli which is breaking in nicely..
Oh wow I'm so far behind since I'm not on here as much anymore.
@opipeman Congratulations my friend! What a milestone. Happy birthday month!
@RockyMountainBriar Sorry for the layoff. I've been there too many times and always came out ahead. Keep your head up and dont settle for less. We all know your skills and talent. I would pay you every penny of your worth.
My after dinner smoke this evening is some Sutliff “Mixture 79” in a Pete Lovat and my drink to pair is a Gin & Tonic made with “Whyte Laydie” Dry Gin from Montgomery Distillery in Missoula Montana. This gin happens to have the silkiest mouth feel of any gin I have had…mmmm. Interesting side note, the gin gets it’s name from a very rare banjo.
@opipeman, @motie2 I’ll admit, I have not found a Sutliff tobacco that wasn’t way to wet even after substantial dry time. Also, they all bite like a rabid dog. I dumped half the bowl of the “Mixture 79”, and about 3/4 bowl of the “Irish Coffee” I had the other day. Sutliff tobaccos all leave something to be desired, at least for me. This afternoon bowl is a mixture of the “Irish Coffee”, some C&D “Espresso” and a little something else I don’t remember what was left in my Pocket Jar…a flake or broken flake of some sort🙂. I’m hoping the “Espresso” makes the Sutliff “Irish Coffee” smokeable. The pipe is an old LHS Certified Purex 96 Squat Bulldog.
Spring has sprung here. Cleaned up the mower (hand mower), changed the oil, cleaned the air filter and sharpened the blade. Now on break before mowing with a perfect pairing; my Frankenblend with my Frankenmeer...
Except for my Santa meer, I've completed my humble and small collection of meers, so I'm starting my rotation again. Doing some Ashton Guilty Pleasure in a Sultan meer. This mixture contains Cavendish, Burley and Carolina Virginias with a combination of vanilla, mangoes and exotic citrus. IMHO, a must try for aro users.
By the way, as I state each year, I'm thankful to @PappyJoe for bringing March Meerschaum Madness to TPL. I know MMM wasn't his idea, but still glad he brought it over to TPL. Using MMM gives me a reason to put those neglected (for the most part) meers back into service at LEAST 3 or 4 times a year...
Well, I took a hint/trick/instructions from another pipe man about Tsuge pipe operation. It seems the base of my Tsuge aluminum/briar pipes can be loaded with (dry/or not) “crap” tobacco and it acts like a “soaker upper”. In the past I have used a short circle of pipe cleaner like that which comes with a Falcon aluminum base pipe. I have had the pipe cleaners char a bit sometimes😖. Anyway, it’s MMM so I have loaded my Falcon meer bowl with some MacBaren “HH Rustica Hot Pressed Flake” L.E. From from 2020. I have loaded that crap Sutliff “Irish Coffee” in the base of the Falcon instead of a pipe cleaner. We’ll see how it works as a “soaker upper”, even if it does not work, it’s better than smoking it.

I appreciate it. I hate it when I spill Irish, even if it is in Coffee.
One thing you learn by 80 is that if you are out of Irish, about anything else will suffice. Thanks Brother.
Thank you and Amen, Brother.

Peace ✌️
Thanks my Brother, it means a lot.
Great looking pipe, and like the lid...
Thanks so much. Definitely my favorite pipe and the Boston Scully is new.
I haven't tried "Mixture 79" in years. It bit my tongue so bad I never finished the pouch.

Grousemoor Plug was my tobacco of choice earlier today👍🏻
I loaded it in my Pete B37 from the 2009 Antique Collection.

Now you guys are just showing off...😏

Now some Lane 1Q in the same meer...

Anxious to hear the outcome...
Me too.
