Kick’in it “Old Skool” this evening. I have one of my cobs loaded with some “Half and Half” and my shot glass loaded with some corn liquor, and I’m getting loaded with both😬 P.S. I’m not sure what the interplay is, but this “Genuine 100% Busthead” is pairing nicely with the “old codger tobak”😋
found a jar of C&D we three kings that I packed away and had forgotten about. Going to load some into a cob and take the dogs out for a quick walk before turning in.
Doing some 3 year old Chacom #2 in a Paronelli. This might be a blend for you non aro guys to try. If I had to guess the proportions, I'd say 50% Virginias, 25% each of Burleys and Cavendish. There is a HINT of vanilla, so faint I can hardly pick it up. Supposedly a dash of green plum, but what little palate I have is not picking that up at all. Still, it's a very straight forward and pleasant smoke...
I attended the New Orleans Pipe Club meeting tonight. Pretty good turnout with two new pipe smokers joining us.
As a special treat, the pipe shop raffled off pipe they found in storage from when the shop was a Tinderbox franchise. It was an Ascorti Special Edition Christmas 2013 made for Tinderbox.
@opipeman Thanks. At one time, there were a total of 15 at the meeting. One took the photo and the other had to leave before we took the photo. Two of the ones in the photo were first time attendees.
I've been breaking in the Ascorti Christmas 2013 with Vauen Tradition No. 2. Another bowl or two and I will consider it "broken in." I'm also smoke some GLP Geometrie and 4th Generation Max Erik Blend 1989.
I’m preparing to smoke a sample of tobacco given to me as a bonus when I bought an estate pipe, many years ago, I don’t even recall which pipe it was🤔. Anyway, If I recall correctly, it was purchased from a gentleman in France. He sent several small samples in the package👍🏻. I had pretty much forgot about them, and they are dry as a bone, they were dry when I received them, they didn’t get any better😬. This particular tobacco is kinda “floral”, similar to SG “Grousemoor”, but scented more strongly. The sample was labeled……

I put a few drops of water in the sample (I might have added a few drops too many), then I “nuked” it for about 5 seconds, just enough to get a little bit of steam going. I am letting it meld and dry a bit before loading it in my Briar Skull by Oguz Simsek. After a bit of meld/dry time, this tobacco is smoking ok, it might have dried too much again, but I’m loading and smoking it anyway. It is similar to “Grousemoor”, but it has too much of the floral essence to it for my tastes.
Call it wishful thinking, but I decided to do some Sutliff Taste of Spring. Using my 54 year old Knute my wife bought new for me while we were still dating/engaged. After all these years, I restemmed it since the original stem was finally to the point of no return. This will probably be my last briar for the month since I will be participating in March Meerschaum Madness (MMM)...
Finished 18. Decided to put off MMM until next week and start breaking in some pipes I've recently created. Now doing some Lane LL-7 in one of my BIM pipes...

That’s a pretty good drop in temp, worthy of my neck of the woods🙂

Congratulations, nice looking pipe. You have more pipe smoker members in that club than I have known in my life.
Thanks.

....and of course Vinny had to join to hangout with me 😎
Awesome pipe, awesome wife.
Good to see you back enjoying the good life.

I sense an Irish theme to your picture. God Bless you.
Yes sir.
Not too sure on my choice of tobacco or whiskey though.
I don’t know about the whiskey, but the 3P’s is fine.
The plug was just hard to cut and prepare and I didn’t let it dry long enough. I had to relight a couple of times
Ahh, did you try out the “Pipe Doctor” knife, out of curiosity?
I would have but I think my oldest son “borrowed” it.
Cutting it wasn’t a problem. I just didn’t let it dry enough.
That's all I have...😏
Oh, here's one of our group I golfed with yesterday. Does that count?🙂
Saints preserve us.
If he ever fell down in the rough, he might get lost😳. Heck, maybe even on the green😂😂
That is perfect golf attire however🙂
