I’m sure most anyone here gets these SPC updates, but these tobak’s look like particularly interesting aromatics…for aromatic lovers anyway. The descriptions sound tasty, and they seem to be reasonably priced, and NOT due to “shrinkflation”.
SPC has six blends of the Caribbean Blue Tobacco Series by Kohlhase & Kopp.
@RockyMountainBriar I discovered these blends on sell in Germany late last year but didn't buy any until earlier this year. I bought two tins each of Graham and the Seegar. I am not disappointed in them but Kohlhase & Kopp makes some of my favorite aromatics. Why the named one blend "Seegar" is a mystery as it doesn't have any cigar leaf tobacco in it.
Of the two I have, it's hard to pick a favorite but I think I've smoked more of the Graham by a slight margin. I'm hoping the supply last so I can order some more in a couple of months.
I don't know how I didn't make the connections. I figured that Bellamy, Rackham and Drake were named for pirates/privateers but the spelling on Graham through me off. As for Emanuel Wynne, that name is not familiar to me and he doesn't appear in any of the books on the Golden Age of Piracy that I have. I wish they would have named one after Jean Lafitte.
I asked the Bard AI why pipe smoking has declined in America.
<<There are many factors that have contributed to the virtual disappearance of pipe smoking in America. Some of the most significant ones include:
The rise of public awareness about the health risks of smoking. In the 1960s, scientific evidence linking smoking to lung cancer and other diseases began to mount. This led to a growing public awareness of the dangers of smoking, and a decline in smoking rates across all forms of tobacco use, including pipe smoking.
The decline of smoking in popular culture. Pipe smoking was once seen as a glamorous and sophisticated habit, often associated with intellectuals and artists. However, by the 1970s, smoking had become increasingly associated with negative stereotypes, such as addiction and disease. This decline in the image of smoking in popular culture made it less appealing to young people, who are the primary target for new smokers.
The increasing availability of alternative nicotine products. In recent years, there has been a proliferation of alternative nicotine products, such as e-cigarettes and vaping devices. These products are often seen as being less harmful than traditional cigarettes, and they have been credited with helping to reduce smoking rates among young people.
The rising cost of tobacco products. The price of tobacco products has been steadily increasing in recent years. This has made it more expensive for people to smoke, and has contributed to the decline in smoking rates.
It is important to note that pipe smoking is still relatively common among older adults. However, among younger adults, it is now a very rare habit.
In addition to the factors mentioned above, there are a few other reasons why pipe smoking may have declined in popularity. For example, some people believe that pipe smoking is less convenient than other forms of tobacco use, such as cigarettes. Additionally, some people find the smell of pipe smoke to be unpleasant.
Despite the decline in pipe smoking, there is still a small but dedicated community of pipe smokers. These smokers often enjoy the ritual of pipe smoking, as well as the taste of pipe tobacco.>>

The tobacco’s in the series are all named after famous or infamous privateers/pirates.
”Black Sam” Bellamy
Emanuel Wynne
”Calico Jack” John Rackham
John Graham/Grayham
Sir Francis Drake
