Dude! Welcome! I lived in Augusta for a while and used to travel to the Atlanta/Peachtree area frequently to some Piccadilly Cafeteria units I managed. Not sure if you'll learn anything in here or not but the guys in here are all pretty experienced smokers so you're in good hands.

Greetings Everyone, I've been on This Pipe Life for about 3 weeks and ya'll helped me identify a Savinelli pipe that I bought in Italy over the summer-THANK YOU! I'm from Bradenton, FL and I started smoking a pipe about a year ago while I mow the yard because it seems to keep the gnats away (that's my story and I'm sticking to it), so I'm a kind of a new pipe smoker. I'm a high school U.S. History teacher and I love fishing, reading, and riding my bike (bicycle). Thanks again, I'm learning so much on this website and and Country Squire Radio.
Hello, all. I wanted to step in and introduce myself. I'm Caleb: a Hobbit at heart, I enjoy reading (mostly via audiobook while I drive, work, mow the grass barefoot, like a good Hobbit, etc), playing guitar and mandolin, roadtrips, and family. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and have been smoking pipes for about 15 years or so. I don't have a fancy collection, but just a few cheapo pipes that I enjoy immensely. My favorite is my grandfather's old Willard that he must've bought in the 70s or so. I don't have any memories of him smoking it (he was mainly a cigarette man), but when my grandmother found out I'd started smoking pipes she dug it out and gave it to me. She also passed me his old ("naugahyde" - who says that anymore?) Peterson pouch to go with it. I've had some nicer pipes over the years but always come back to the Willard.
I became interested in smoking a pipe while reading THE LORD OF THE RINGS in 2006 or so. I'd seen the films many times, but when I finally made it to the books I fell in with the Hobbits and knew I'd have to try pipe-smoking. I went to a shop downtown in Fort Worth (RIP) and got my first setup: a MM Corncob and a bag of some wonderful stuff he'd blended up and sold in the big jars. The man showed me how to fill the pipe, pack it down a bit (but not too much), light, and enjoy! I was working the night shift and was on my way into work that day. When I got to my truck (a little green Mazda POS I lovingly named 'Frodo'), I fired up the pipe and started puffing. A few minutes later I had to pull over as the road started swirling and twisting into odd shapes through my windshield. The man didn't mention the buzz I'd likely get upon my first smoke! That was a wonderful season of life in many ways: discovering Tolkien the writer rather than through the films, getting my first pipe, and all of it being wrapped up in the golden light of Autumn with its accompanying smells, sights, and sensations.
@TakeMeToTheShire; Welcome. You'll find some liked minded folks here as well as people with a variety of interests and opinions. The common thread is that they all love pipes and Tabac and are all quality folks. Jump in and enjoy!
Howdy folks! Just recently got into the Pipe Life, and found out about this site through CSR. My first action in a new hobby always includes bingeing podcasts. My collection is (for now) a Nording Freehand and Nordic Prince Churchwarden, and (don't judge me!) I'm very much into aros. I'm very much a novice, and will likely have many questions. In my perusing these boards, this is clearly a friendly place to go until I can convert everyone I know sufficient to start an in person pipe club. Speaking of, my lovely lady just received a Vauen Auenland Almar (smooth) and she enjoys Autumn Evening alongside me. It's awesome! I'm located in New York, but not the city.
@toddstevens4; A thousand welcomes. Glad you found us We are as full of answers as you are questions. The forum is populated by quality people, all loving are hobby. Puff and ask or ask and puff, you decide. Nobody will judge you, but goodhearted chop busting has been known to occur.

Just remember, GM is better than Ford, and Peterson’s are ok, they’re not Savinelli’s, but they have their attributes🙂. If you dish it out, you need to be able to take it…it’s all in fun, don’t get too serious.
