My Velcro dog named "Atlanta". She was a rescue dog that I got almost 4 years ago. I'm still trying to figure out who rescued who. She's the smartest and most faithful dog I've ever had. My wife calls her "The Other Woman" :
ONE of my furry friends. This is my buddy, named "Buddy". When we lost our last kitty, we went out the next day and adopted a mother cat and her three kittens. The funny thing is, we did not rescue them, they rescued us. They have been nothing short of a delight to have in our home. I usually have at least one hanging out with me in my office. Like all my cats have done in the past, I know pretty much where they are by the time of the day as they follow the sun around the house so they are almost always in the sunbeams coming through the windows. They still often sleep in a "clouder" as they did as kittens.
In addition to Buddy, we have his brother "Ziglet". his sister "Charlette", and good ole "Momma". They love to hang out with their "people", and love to visit me in the office for treats during the day.
Not furry, but finny. This is a pic of a saltwater aquarium I set up a few years ago. 125 gallon tank. After it cycled, I added more fish including a yellow tang, harlequin tusk and my crown jewel - a Christmas Island Flame Angel. I had a contractor doing some work in the house and he used something very caustic on the floors. Killed every fish in the tank almost immediately. I was heartbroken and ended up selling the tank. Maybe after I retire I'll give it another go.
One year ago yesterday, my brother adopted this sweet little Bassett Hound. Her name is Ella and we love her so much. It’s extremely heartbreaking to know that this dog was abused and passed around from place to place. She is still very high strung around strangers, but we can settle her down really well now.
If I could, i’d steal her all the time, but my bro lives pretty far away. Lol.
ANYONE who mistreats an animal in any way will rot in hell forever. The things in my world that you do not mistreat (in no certain order) are children, old people, folks physically and metally challenged, and animals. I connect often more with animals (and children) than other people. And if I see anyone mistreat anyone smaller or unable to defend themselves emotionally or physically, or anyone mistreating an animal I will end up in jail for assault and battery.
@pwkarch My Dad used to say " A man that would kick a dog would kick a child." At MP school there was a dog that used to follow us around to class, one of the guys kicked it out of his way, he went thump when the guy behind him shoved him off the landing.
@pwkarch well said. I always adopt my pets from shelters or rescues. I feel this way I can make sure they have a good life regardless of what they had in past. Always seem to end up with great pets too once they get used to being well cared for (some are pretty shy at first). My latest (he is out with me right now protecting us from the raccoons that come by every night. Thinks he's a bigger dog than he is but I've got his back)
Over the past couple of years I've discovered that I have come to the conclusion that the only acceptable Torture Victims are corrupt politicians and animal abusers.
This is our rescue bluetick. A pipe-smoking companion only when her belly is well-packed in the evening and movement becomes too much of a labor for her.
Just got back from the emergency vet with our oldest dog, 9 year old Min Pin Jackie. Best part nothing was seriously wrong with her. Vet said she had a bug that was making her sick.
