Corey562 - I understand Sutliff 1849 to be one of the few tinned non-aromatics that Sutliff still features. I'm genuinely curious -- not so curious as to actually buy a tin, however, being an aromatics-only piper, at least this time around. That's where you can help me out: How does Sutliff 1849 smoke?
I'm smoking a bowl of Mrs. Hudson's 221B Bakery Blend. Thanks @ghostsofpompeii for creating it, and thanks @motie2 for introducing me to it. Great & mild aro!
I'm slowly creeping up on the Dark Side ... once again I'm getting ready to load up my bowl with a 50/50 mixture of Captain Black "Black Sea" and Sutliff Raspberry Cobbler. Is it possible I'm developing a taste for Latakia. I think there might be a slight possibility ... but then again Captain Black "Black Sea" is something of an anomaly as an aromatic English blend and the amount of Latakia might be very small. But either way, I'm enjoying the Hell out of this mixture so why quibble.
Sherlock (from Royal Pipes in Norman, OK) in my Hans Christian Andersen with the short stem. They quit making this blend about 6 years ago. Still delicious!
Sitting outside in Slidell, LA. It's 73 degrees and humidity is 52%. Smoking Cherry Ambrosia in a Stanwell HCA I just happened to win from TPL in July 2016.
Cooler today in northern NJ. Out on the rear deck with Barbados Plantation and my newly auction-won Carey prototype: two slots in the stem instead of six, and no "C in a box" on the stem. BTW, the stem appears to be lucite. A picture will be posted as soon as I clean it up ( ream, alcohol*, pipe cleaners, Qtips, and rags ).
* vodka for the pipe; black spiced rum for me. Thanks to those who recommended I switch from isopropyl alcohol, which I had used since the 1960's.
Just got a package from P&C and plan on smoking my new pipe with some Sutliff Peach Cobbler. I'm hoping it's the peach flavored blend I've been looking for. I also have a tin of Ole Shenandoah Fuzzy Schnapps which is also a possibility - but I can't open that tin til Christmas.
