McClelland Matured Virginia 25 in a Heiseberger Morta Poker sitter, I bought it at the show this past weekend, first time smoking a pipe made from morta.
@Woodsman -- Thank you, sir. I have fond memories of my Beattie of old. I never had the petrol taste when using it, unlike with zippos.
I'm enchanted by how the plating on yours has begun to wear (unless that's a reflection or trick-of-the-light....). Mine had done the same wear. Frankly, I think the wear makes the lighter look like a well used workingman's tool, rather than an over $100.00 vanity purchase.
Thanks again for the post. And that's a sweet pipe, too! (The Czech tool: sign of a pro.)
@Corey562 You need to post all those pictures of your pipes on The Daily Briar Photoshoot. I started that for people to show off their pipes - and I ran out of pipes to feature, so we need more pictures like yours. Especially since you've created them. Man, those are some beautiful pipes. I love the one on the top right.
@xDutchx -- I've wondered about the fragility of pipes with bamboo attachments to the stummel. How sturdy are they? How is the bamboo affixed? May I presume the stem comes out of the bamboo? Twist? Friction fit? And is the bamboo removable from the stummel? Wait, I asked that before. OK, is it really bamboo or something crafted to look like bamboo? I have no experience with such pipes. And BTW, it's gorgeous.
Barbados Plantation (yes, still.....) in the estate freehand Carey poker/tanker I won on eBay. Cleaned up, it smokes exactly like my other Carey pipes.
@xDutchx When I mentioned in another post "pipes too pretty to smoke" - that would be one of them. I too would be worried about the fragility of the bamboo. In the hands of a klutz like me I know I'd break it for certain the first time I took it apart to clean it.
I've been on a Captain Black kick for some strange reason as of late and this afternoon I smoked Captain Black Grape out in the yard. And as soon as I get off the computer I'll be smoking Captain Black Royal. I'll be using my H.S. Stone pipe that looks like something H.R. Giger might have designed for the movie ALIEN.
