<< I have only been smoking a pipe for about a year, but when i first started, i couldn't get enough latakia. I was smoking Pirate Kake, Ten Russians, Quiet Nghts, Ten to Midnight, Nightcap, and Presbyterian all the time. Now the only of the blends that are palatable to me are Presbyterian (which has only a tiny bit, or Quiet Nights, where the red virginias do the heavy lifting to me. Now for five months or so i only have really been wanting to smoke virginias/vapers and lakelands. i can't think of another time in my life my tastes changed so fast. Is this common/did it happen to any of you? It's quite strange. I am setting aside all my latakia blends for the forseeable future.>>
I've read that Latakia blends are more of a winter tobacco because of the heaviness of the aroma and mouthfeel. Summer is more suited to Virginias and Va/Per blends because of the brighter mouthfeel and airy aroma. Peretti on the other hand recommended to me a heavy Latakia blend to keep away the mosquitoes. I keep both available and choose whatever I'm in the mood for. Of course Dunhill dictated my morning smoke and thankfully STG kept it alive in the Peterson line.
<<We’ve had a debate recently in the TPL office about how we smoke our pipes. Some of us use the same pipe most of the time, while others like to change up the pipe depending on our mood or what tobacco we are smoking. We want to settle the debate, so please leave your answer as a comment on our post dedicated to this topic.>>
@KA9FFJ Yep, nice pipe, quite the dapper dresser too 🙂 I’ll admit, a well tailored suit looks great, but at 57, I have yet to own a suit or wear one. I’ve worn a rented tux one time in my life as a groomsman for a verygood friends wedding. They make me itch just looking at them. I have never had any tailored clothes. I have to wear two collar extenders to wear a tie, which I have only done maybe ten times. If I had a dress shirt off of the rack that fit my neck, the arms would be about a foot too long and the tail would have to tuck into my shoes…well not quite😬
Although I fit just fine in a 2X t-shirt, it takes at least a 3XLT button-up shirt to accommodate my neck and sleeve-length needs. Last time I measured (for what I dunno) I've a 56" chest and a 44" waist. Last suit I've owned wasn't, it was my dress uniform.

Just commissioned a restored Chacom from The Pipe Steward. I will post before and after pics when it’s done. What cool project.

You may think you need a bigger neck size because you're probably trying to button it around your beard...😏
