@motie2 Very intetesting, but not really too much of a surprise. My experience is that those brands are usually not to be found at estate sales. At least the ones in this area. If I had to guess, and I do mean guess, I would say maybe 1 out of 10/15 would make the above list... O well, since reworking worn out pipes is my passion, I'm ok with that...
I kinda bought Christmas gifts for myself and a few after Christmas gifts as well. I do not know if any of you guys ever shop Marty’s (Pulvers Prior Briar). He is a great guy to do business with and his prices are typically below most bid wars on EBay. He has new and used pipes. I think the Ascorti was from him ($45) and the Caminetto on the right came from him as well (new $100). I am a sucker for the Italians...it’s the wife’s fault! She is the one that gave me my first Caminetto as a anniversary gift one year so if I find one and the funds are there she just says “why don’t you get it”. She is the best! ⚓️
I think that in the first 3 layer packing explanation he might have got the measurement incorrect? Final pack 1 centimeter below the rim?.. I’m pretty sure that will overpack any pipe I have, my guess he meant 1 millimeter below the rim?
@motie2 Yes, you did, just pointing out that one particular little error in case any new pipe smokers were reading it and trying to mash their third layer of tobacco down a centimeter below the rim😳. They might be there all night trying to draw through the pack and having to start over😬
