@motie2 I have a Mr. Brog bent with 9mm filter. I had to strip the finish and restain it because of drip marks left from their factory. But the mechanics are good and performs well. I take it on all my vacations and I'm taking it to the pipe show tomorrow... Anyway, tnx for the link. I didn't know it existed...
@motie2 To follow up on the link you posted about Charatan pipes...
The pre-Lane period (prior to 1955) and the Lane era pipes (1955 to until sometime between 1979 - 1984) are of primary interest the collector. The Lane era is often quoted as beginning about 1950.
Is it irony? The company that produced the early Dunhill pipes (1908 - 1910) by hand was eventually bought and sold by Dunhill several times over and is once again a Dunhill owned company.
Currently listening to a fascinating video by Eric the BlueCollarPipeSmoker about pipe smoking in the Civil War. As a fan of history and the Civil War, these are the kind of videos I love listening to. Lots of photos and historical letter reading. Highly recommended.

Well, so far 2020 is starting off very busy and exciting. We just attended the Tobacco Plus Expo in Las Vegas and if attendance and the number of exhibitors is any indication of the state of the industry - the show proved that the Tobacco Industry is going, and growing, strong.
These shows are very important as these types of shows are where new products are launched, new products are purchased, and manufacturers and retailers alike get to discuss the pulse of the industry as a whole; what's in - what's out - and what consumers are saying.
As you will see in this edition of of our Quarterly Newsletter, we have had some really exciting things going on, some that have passed, some that are in progress and some that will be coming up.
We always keep you, our most valued asset, in mind when we plan anything - from launches, to packaging, all the way to events. Here at Sutliff and Mac Baren we know that our consumers are the most important part of what we do. So as you read this newsletter we hope you are as equally excited about what we are doing for you, our valued consumer.
We thank you so very much for all your support of Sutliff, Mac Baren and the other companies we represent. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your hobby and passion!
<< H.R. 2339 was passed by the House on February 27th. H.R. 2339 is a partisan bill that proposes to ban internet sales of all tobacco products along with the sale of "flavored" tobacco products including pipe tobacco among other anti-tobacco provisions.
The bill goes to the Senate next where, hopefully, it will be buried or will fail to pass. Please continue to contact your Congressional senators and let them know you oppose this legislation. We'll keep you updated on its progress.
In the meantime, however, it wouldn't hurt to stock up on all of your favorite blends...especially if you don't have a B&M pipe shop near you.>>
I came across this nice article on twitter, and couldn't resist sharing it here. A man from Port Huron born on February 29th celebrated his 104th/26th birthday the other day. How did this fine gentleman choose to celebrate his birthday? By smoking his corncob pipe while surrounded by loved ones. Give it a read, as he has a very interesting and eventful life story. I hope he gets to enjoy his pipe again on his 27th.
