@Rusty69 Glad to see more members getting into the spirit of things and posting pictures of their pipes on The Daily Briar Photoshoot. This picture is twice as nice since it also features your son's hand made ashtray. Very nice pipe as well. Looks to be the perfect size for carrying around in your shirt pocket.
So, I picked up an estate Peterson 150 straight bulldog on ebay last week, and I'm finally able to take it on an inaugural smoke. It's my first time smoking a P-lip, and it's going much better than I thought it would. It's not the most creative picture, but thought I'd dress it up rather than just the initial pics I took last week. It's a fine pipe with some character to it.
@randelli Did you create these labels. And if so, are the names something you picked out or actual names of blends. Since so many Mom & Pop B&M stores give bulk Land and Sutliff blends a House Blend name I thought you might be doing the same.
I stole got the images from the interwebs; but they are some blends that I have mixed up at my local B&M shop. I don't mix established blends - the shop always has single types on hand. These have, depending on the lable, a mixture of red virginia, bright virginia, stoved virginia, white burley, latakia, and perique.
There are two types of people in this world: those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't - Bob Wiley
Actually, there are two types of people- amplifiers and condensers, and I fall into the latter category. I know they taste good and other people seem to like them; but I lack the eloquence to accurately describe them to any amount of justice.
I should probably send some out for review - I know jiminks would do a great job. Not to imply that he would even like them; but he would definitely capture the essense of the blends.
I will have some at the Texas Pipe Show; and I am excited to have John David of The Country Squire sample them. I bet he would do a good job as well.
Imago marriage counseling has people divided into Tigers and Turtles. I think it's all psychobabble, but SWMBO is enthusiastic so my opinion doesn't matter much......
@randelli I'm more of an aromatic kind of guy otherwise I'd be willing to give it a try. But I'd love to have a T-Shirt with that design. When I make my blends my kitchen looks more like a baker preparing pastries. I have all kinds of Watkins flavor extracts on the table around me and tend to use good old Velvet tobacco as the poor guinea pig to be smothers is some gooey concoction. Sounds to me like you're actually making honest to God blends with a variety of tobaccos and not just ladling spoonfuls of honey, molasses, and sweet flavorings over a cheap OTC blend.
@thebadgerpipe Glad to see more people posting their pictures here again. And the backstory behind the knife is a nice personal touch. Hand me down possessions from friends and relatives make something as simple as a knife a cherished keepsake.
Thanks @ghostsofpompeii ! while I don't think my pictures are quite up to the level of some of the stunning ones found here, I enjoy not only hearing about what other pipers are smoking, but to see their pictures as well.
@motie2 It's impolite to make fun of a man because of his small head. Look at all those certificates @pipeman83amassed on the wall behind him. He should be applauded for not allowing his disability to hold him back in a world populated by normal headed people. Damn! @pipeman83. How man pounds of tobacco does that pipe hold? That's one big pipe.
Question about the Morta wood. I've heard that when you first start smoking a pipe made from Morta that there is a slight petroleum or tarlike taste as a result of the natural aging process of Morta wood?
@motie2, it is big, not as big as my head though, @ghostsofpompeii, I didn't notice any petroleum or tar-like taste, this is my 2nd. bowl from this pipe, it's good for at least 3hrs.@randelli, those are certificates from the Grand Lodge F&AM of Ohio.
You know those Mall stores that sell only baseball style caps? I've gone into three and said, "I'll buy every hat in the store that fits." I've never had to buy a cap. I've been told I have a head like an NBA basketball. I've tried not to let it hold me back
Having a bowl of SG's Cabbie's Mixture in my St. Ives poker. The tea set sits with my pipe racks, and was a gift from my grandmother. I'm thankful to still have her with me, and I'll always cherish the set.

Anyone interested in trying it out?
Prepared some War Horse Green for a cob tonight. The pocket knife was my grandfather's, and I use it to cut my plug and rope tobacco.
