can't seem to get away from frog Morton the taste and smell is SO great I love it, it's smokey crisp yum yum lol
I do notice thou it leave the smell in the bowl which latakia is known to do that's why I on;y try to smoke one pipe of it a day ...it's so hard thou lol
@Pipefreak2383 Frog Morton is a good smoke, Latakia is one of the tobaccos that leaves a ghost flavor in the pipe with repeated smoking of it. I smoke English Blends that have Latakia in it and it does leave it's mark.
that's the only down side of latakia other then that it's very yum yum :-) I have 2 corn cobs coming should be here on Tuesday. I am going to use a corncob just for latakia :-) I hear with corncobs that it doesn't really leave a ghost flavor behind...
@Pipefreak2383 - if you want an interesting English blend try Cornell & Diehl Captain Earle's Mystic Blend. I opened a tin last Thursday and have smoked at least one bowl everyday. It's good.
@motie2 Based on P&C list of their "Top Selling" tobaccos, it appears as if the Aromatics appear to be the clear leader. I fall into the Aromatic camp too.
For me, I'm mainly a non-aro smoker, focused of VaPer, Virginia, Burley, and Perique blends. After that, I'd put Lakeland blends, though I'm not sure if they would fit in another category.
@KA9FFJ I have a friend in Pittsburgh that's been growing his own, He likes heavy Nic. non Aro's as a rule. Save you lots of money and in 20 years you can be the local weed dealer when it's completely outlawed.( Psst! Wanna buy some Vapers or a kick butt Burley??)
@Woodsman I guess I'm the same way with my tobacco as I am with my food. My wife loves me because I am not picky and will eat anything she puts in front of me. Some things I like better than others, but it all gets eaten. This same characteristic is applied to my tobacco. I'll smoke any pipe tobacco. Some I like more than others, but it all eventually gets smoked. That is why I enjoyed an inside joke on myself when I was moving up at TPL, and was labeled for a while as a "connoisseur"... I think I'm about as far from a connoisseur when it comes to pipe tobacco as my grandson... ( he's 7)
@Watchmaker61 I also use Bacardi 151. There MAY be a lingering rumlike flavor the first puff or two, but that more depends on how long I let the pipe rest after cleaning it. If more than a couple days, there is no lingering taste.
OK, then, what would you call this? I've been calling it a Canted Dublin Zulu Horn, with a round beveled bowl edge, and a Charatan 'Double Comfort' style mouthpiece, a magnificent gift from a cherished acquaintance, who, now that I think about it, I have not heard from in a while. Hmmmmmm.

Which is more popular: English/Latakia/Oriental blends, or VaPer blends, or Aromatic blends?
