@motie2 Doctors instructions. I could eat Jell-O as long as it wasn't red. I could drink water, Gatorade type drinks (as long as they weren't red) and I could drink chicken or beef broth. I also had to drink this vile tasting stuff he prescribed.
@motie2 is that spicy beer able to be purchased elsewhere? I'd be all over that. I've stopped pairing beer with pipes though as a general rule. My three now are bourbon, coffee, and water.
@Zouave1864; Your description of "like a punch in the nuts and mouth all at once" probably wouldn't work for very many consumables, but in the case of whiskey, for some reason it seems to work.
@motie2 it's definitely peppery like @RockyMountainBriar says. I think I would go with an Irish whiskey with corned beef. Can't go wrong with Tullamore Dew. When I was a kid my mother used to make a glaze for her corned beef out of brown sugar and irish whiskey. She would always roast it in the oven instead of slow cooking it in a pot.
Kümmel - caraway liquor. My father, of blessed memory, drank only two alcohols: Drambouie and Kümmel. It’s a delicious sipper, but you really gotta like caraway seeds.
The boy got me a set of new rocks glasses for my birthday, so I'm taking them for a spin with some Bombay and Tonic. Who am I kidding it's mostly Bombay.
My brother bought me a bottle of Bourbon from Montana Whiskey Company out of Missoula Montana. I am partaking this evening, my “forced vacation” is about over. My new job starts Wednesday….not really looking forward to starting over once again at my age, but I like my house, food, spirits, and baccy.
@opipeman, @Londy3 I’m not worried about getting the job done, I just hate starting on the bottom again…..this will be the fourth time I was at a company I thought I would retire at.
@Londy3 Going good, but the manager wasn’t around to “eyeball”. I’m not use to the whole time clock thing and I am always worried if I’ll be under or over. They make a big deal of “No Overtime”…which personally I don’t care about OT, I’d rather have the time off. They made out like seconds count…again, over or under…I could care less. They do have a nice break room with free snacks though, cheese, cookies, chips, fruit, meat sticks, candy, and coffee of course, probably tea also, etc. They do not have, what I would consider to be, some of the basic test equipment and test procedures I use. I now know why my ex co-worker in Butte that has worked for this new company for several years after being laid off complains about “less than stellar” replacement parts, i.e. A large number do not work straight off of the “good” shelf. As far as leather work and pipe making, the materials for leather are expensive. The simple leather trays I have made are $12+ in materials, not including the time. I doubt people would pay enough for them to make it worthwhile for me. Making pipes has more material expense, and a heck of a lot more labor, again, I doubt anyone would pay the price I would need to make it worthwhile. I could work at McDonalds and make more.
We had the solar eclipse yesterday, so I grabbed some local "eclipse" beer. Didn't see much there was roo many clouds but it was a good excuse to day drink.

But….. why?

NJ brewery. I’m unclear about distribution.

I do make the best bloody Mary 😎
Does it pair well with corned beef? There’s a liquor called Kümmel that is made from caraway seeds, and it really rocks with a corned beef on rye.

Rye Whiskey has a bit more “spice” like that which Perique tobacco adds to regular tobacco, kinda peppery.
They don't call it rough rider for nothing.
Thank you for responding to my seemingly weird question.
A wee bit of the Irish goes good with everything.

I couldn’t comment on wether Rye pairs with corned beef, I have not had it for many, many, many, years, the corned beef, not the Rye🙂
Don't sweat the new job. Once they see you for the genius you are, you'll own the place. Keep your TPL Family posted.

So, how did the first week goat the new gig?
Have you thought about your leather and pipe work for a side hustle? You can build that into a nice nest egg.

I decided to pass on the eclipse, I'll watch the next one.
A worthy goal to look forward to👍🏻
