@PappyJoe Yeah, that's right. It was bottled in bond so it has to be at least 💯 proof. I always try a new bourbon neat first then add one ice cube and try again. Usually, for bourbon over 100 proof, I always tell tasters to give it three separate, slow sips while you breathe. Taking breaks between to clear palette and breathe to let air flow. This will help not only clear out your taste buds and airways, but prep for tasting the next sip. By the third or fourth sip you can decide what you like about it. Continue to sip and you will learn and taste more. Also, it's good to experiment with different cocktails and bitters. By the time you've have your second or third pour, it really doesn't matter 😂🤣 🥃
@Londy3 Yeah. I find that the "neck" pour is usually harsher than the rest of a bottle. That could just be me though. I've gravitated to being a neat kind of drinker over the past 22 years.
I don't usually do mixed drinks because I don't like adding sugar but I make exceptions every now and then. I was in the mood for a mint julep the other day for example. I haven't done an Old Fashion in awhile so I was going to make one. I didn't have the lemon for the twist and the only Angostura Bitters I have are the Orange.
Traditional Bourbon Old fashion but with 3 slices on crispy bacon, (dam you Londy3, you've turned me into a bacon bourbon addict) OK it's not directly your fault as I already had an addictive nature, but putting bacon in bourbon is, well I could not come up with a family friendly analogy.
Think the original Planet of the apes movie at the end where Charlton Heston sees the statue of liberty 3/4 buried on the beach and says ..........

Damn, now I want a chocolate bunny filled with bourbon. I could bite it’s head off and drink of it’s essence. Does that sound kinda creepy🤔
Drinking some of my home roasted Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, prepared black drip for a change. It’s roasted light enough for me to drink that way🙂
Thanks for the review. What was the proof on that?
Maybe try an old fashioned with that bourbon and it could be really good.
100 proof.
For some reason it seems to have lost the harshness that I found with the first pour.

It's not a bad take on an Old Fashion though.
Local brew until my neighbor showed up. Then it turned into margaritas with a double!
Great picture!
Nice looking pipe in the picture.
I have neighbors that are a bad influence, or maybe it is the other way around. I guess it all depends on where you live on the block.
True. But the party is always at my house 😂
I should have surmised as much. I wish you were my neighbor.
Careful what you wish for 😂
You have a good point. You don't need a bad influence in your neighborhood.
You mean another bad influence😬
In some form or another, I think you're right. 😂
I resemble that remark.
You guys are just trying to make me feel better.
Looks fabulous
Started with a local IPA "Liquid Paradise" which is awesome. Then started sipping on a new local bourbon I picked up. So far, so good! 👍
