She’s a very sweet cat. About 75 now; went blind a few years ago. She used to be outdoors a lot and took some getting used to with going blind, but she’s settled in now as long as she gets to sit outside every day for a while
Yesterday, I didn’t get a pipe in (no smoking in company vehicles…I don’t smoke in my own pickup anyway). I had a whirlwind trip to Helena, Montana (The State Capital) and back. I visited Montana Gambling Control Division to retrieve a few of our older machines they had stored away that had been submitted for state approval and state testing years ago. They were no longer needed by them. I got to see a string of the lucky 7’s roll over on our 2013 work truck. It was a great day for a 482 mile round trip. Less than eight hours with about 90 minutes for lunch/fuel/loading stops👍🏻
I stopped in Big Timber for fuel and lunch. I tried a newer place called The Thirsty Turtle BBQ, and had a pulled pork sandwich (“The Porkie” I think it was called). It had two, full, thick sliced strips of bacon, a 1/4”slab of real ham and a slice of Swiss piled on as well. I chose a bowl of homemade vegetable beef soup for a side and some spicy deep fried pickle chips as an appetizer😋. The sandwich was big and very tasty, the sandwich and soup were a very reasonable $10-$11. They got me with the iced tea and pickles though, tea was $2 and the dang pickle appetizer was $6-$7. Oh well, it went on the company card🙂
Tonight I’m getting a pipe in🙂. I have an old Yello-Bole Zulu that I re-stemmed, chamfered the rim (because I think it looks good, not because it needed it) and refinished it. It has the original Yello-Bole “scoop” stinger in it, and I smoke it with it installed. This style of Yello-Bole “stingers” work well for me especially with this short stem👍🏻 It’s loaded with a mix of C&D “Bright Virginia Ribbon” with a pinch of C&D “Izmir Turkish” and a half pinch of my homegrown Burley Rum Plug.
@motie2, As with most aromatic blends, I have a difficult time breaking down the various tastes and subtle nuances. It is for sure a mellow blend. This is the description of the blend that is given, It has Chocolate, Vanilla, Coffee and a light sweetness. I would say give it a try.
Prepping the grill to bbq a London broil for dinner, smoking some Wilke Sailor Jack for the first time in a smaller Peterson bulldog I picked up a couple weeks ago.\
My wife last night requested that I smoke some Sutlif Queen Ann's Revenge while traveling back home from the in laws.
This morning she texted me that her car smelled delicious,
@mapletop No shit! Wow! My wife would never allow me to do that! Don't know if you should keep her or throw her away for lack of "modern sophistication" LOL By the way, London broil from a charcoal grill, medium rare, sliced paper thin on an angle...damn...one of the best flavors you'll ever get.
Been married for 52 years. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and, over the years, has proven to be the best thing I ever did. Now that we're "old" (wink-wink) she's still my best friend....
@Balisong dude, I swear to god, you must stage these photos! I'd hate to look at your house sale photos on Zillow or something, probably look like a palace on the Danube when really it's a single wide outside of Branson!
The Christmas Lestrade is likely to become a favorite. I took a pipe break to sample the Eggnog cookies my wife made using @PappyJoe's recipe, they are delicious! Thank you again @PappyJoe! Now back to Balkan Mixture in a cob, football and a late dinner.
