@Balisong That Lestrade (XL23) is a bit larger than an XL02. The one I have smokes fine, but I did chamfer the tenon when I got it. The Lestrade is a pretty big pipe, like all of the Sherlock Holmes Peterson’s 🙂
@RockyMountainBriar Thanks for the link! The Lestrade bowl internal measurement is basically the same as a pot design but I like the bent apple style better than the bent pot and it will get me two consecutive years of Christmas pipes. Justifying a purchase is such a wonderful rabbit hole!
@Balisong You will have to post a pic. I may have had that SH XMAS Lestrade in my wish list🙂. It’s gone now. Smoking some C&D “Espresso” in the Peterson 2019 POY “Chubby” Rhodesian.
I've become a big fan of G&H Balkan Mixture in a cob. I took a break from it with Charring Cross in an MM Pride then switched back to Balkan Mixture, this time in a Peterson Spigot 150. The Spigot bit my tongue so I loaded a Rob Roy and life is good again!
I just started with the G&H Balkan mixture as well as the Sasieni. I was bear hunting in PA last week and fired up some in the woods. It was so good, I didn’t even care if a bear stepped out in front of the valley I was watching! Great stuff. I can’t wait to see in a few years how the cellared tins fair. Cheers Gents!
Starting the day with Charring Cross in an MM Diplomat, I have Peterson Flake, Deluxe Navy Rolls and G&H DVC in the rotation but I keep reaching for the Latakia blends!
better late than never. Having some Peretti Thanksgiving blend in a meerschaum lined Weber, while valiantly trying....and failing to untangle Christmas lights.
Finished the turkey with baked potatoes and brussel sprouts and I'm just about finished with the bowl of Gaslight. Next up Peterson Flake in an MM Morgan and if I can find room a piece of Dutch Apple Pie that the wife made this afternoon.
I finished last nights Peterson Flake after this morning's Balkan Mixture. I loaded up another cob of Balkan Mixture to keep me company while I started making duck leg curry.
Just finished my part in setting out the inside Christmas decorations. SWMBO is now doing her thing while I'm enjoying some C&D JOSN in a Paronelli. It had the red stem, so I stripped and restained the stummel a dark green. Works nicely as a Christmas holiday pipe...
After feeding the pets, four cats, dog, parrot, seven turkeys, two rabbits, and, ten chickens, I settled in for an enjoyable Diplomat filled with G & H Balkan Mixture. Next up is Charring Cross in an MM Rob Roy.
Burley Flake #2 in a cob with my blind cat, and yes, she is wearing a harness because she gets skittish sometimes being blind and all and wants to run away

That's the perfect pipe for flakes and coins!
Take a look at the site petersonpipenotes.org. It is a blog by Mark Irwin, one of the people involved with the book “The History of Kapp & Peterson”. There is a post about chamfering tenons, tapering the airways in stems and the tools used. https://petersonpipenotes.org/2021/07/25/236-chamfering-tenons-for-a-cooler-smoke/

Please tell me a little bit about the Piper’s Pleasure? I had put it on my secret Santa wishlist…..
Now enjoying some Sutliff Old Vienna in a Rhodesian meer...

Sharp lookin’ pipe!
She looks like a sweet cat!
Loaded up a Frankenblend of Levant and Gaslight into a Let Freedom Ring Rob Roy cob. It makes a tasty blend!
