Well, here is a pipe I made back in June of 2016. I may have made the walls a bit thin and I have been apprehensive about smoking it for fear of ruining the pipe. Well…a pipe really isn’t a pipe unless you can smoke it, so here goes. Think happy thoughts for it’s survival. Next decision, what tobacco for break-in? I’m thinking Lane’s “BCA”, CB “Royal”, or maybe C&D “Espresso”.
It's not made by Kohlhase & Kopp (the blender who makes the Rattray's blends). So far I've just had one bowl and it says it's topped with citrus flavors, I struggled to notice it. There is a slight impression of some type of citrus and maybe a hint of peach, but I would say after one bowl, that the yellow virginia is more predominant.
I decided to load my pipe for it’s “maiden voyage” with a pinch of GH “Kendal Black Cherry” on the bottom, then loaded to the top with some Lane’s “BCA”. The GH has a bit larger cut that I thought would be a good open base, the “BCA” was a bit moist, I didn’t dry it any which I thought might slow down the burn. Good news for the pipe, it made it through with flying colors, and no issues caused by any overheating. It did gurgle at about the 1/4-1/2 way point, a pipe cleaner took care of that, then smoked fine to the finish. I’m a “happy camper”.
After noon chores, feeding and watering the flocks, I folded, fluffed and stuffed a Dunhill Flake into an MM Pride and enjoyed it with a cup of coffee. Followed that with a couple of cobs filled with Peterson Standard Mixture which is becoming my replacement for Dunhill London Mixture.
Last night went to local lounge for Black Label Trading company event. picked up some smokes and proxy for a cigar buddy since he was out of town. On the way home I creamed this big cat or small dog. Nothing I could do about it. Look this morning and lost a fog lamp cover, no big deal only 25 bucks. Closer inspection I fugged up the grill pretty bad but no damage to the radiator. Don’t know how much that will cost but it did it’s job
@AceFour Maybe is was a coon, I dang near got one with my Harley Sportster one night, just saw him flash to the left of my front tire, his tail might have even brushed me. If I would have hit him at 60+ mph, I think we both would have probably been holding the very short and $#!t end of the stick. Just a flash of a second made the difference😳. I had a deer jump the road just a few yards in front of me at about the same speed. I didn’t even have time to think about tapping the brakes or swerving…..good thing, otherwise I might have been rubber side up. A friend and I were riding to the “Iron Horse Rodeo” in Red Lodge, MT one morning, traveling in a staggered formation, him front left, me right rear…anyway a couple of deer crossed the road. A small fawn stopped in the middle of the lane. Again, no real time to even think about braking/slowing. We passed it at 70+ mph, one on each side….dang good thing the little bugger stood still. I think I may have used up quite a few of my “nine lives” over the years with other various close calls such as falling through the ice on the Yellowstone River…I don’t swim well at all. Thinking about it, I probably only have one or two of those “nine lives” left😳.
I finished my tin of Standard Mixutre and moved back to Balkan Mixture. I have the rest of the week to finish up my tobacco bar before the new loot arrives!
Finally received my order fromP&C yesterday from July 21st. Somebody done screwed up. At any rate, tried Lane Black Raspberry for the first time. Not a bad blend, hint of Raspberry but not overwhelming.

Cool looking pipe man.
Now that’s the way to mow the grass.
What’s your impression of Blend 07?
First impression?

I'll know more after I smoke more of it.
