@thebadgerpiper But our high temperature will be back down in the 50s for the next three days. My big problem is when we go through temperature fluctuations like this, it can mess up my sinuses.
The sure and certain solution to sinus problems: a neti pot. Both SWMBO and I use them every day. Fantastic experience...... Almost immediately shuts down sinus headaches. Prevents them, too.
Doing some Lane RLP-6 in a recently refurbed JOST A1 full bent. @motie2 If you like the neti pot, check out the sinugator made by the same company. It really does a great job also. I still use my neti pot from time to time and no complaints. But if I feel a sinus infection or sinus related headache coming on, I personally find that the sinugator reduces those symptoms quicker...FOR ME... Anyway, check it out...
Just loaded some LL-7 in a Paronelli squashed tomato. I purchased this pipe NEW at the St. Louis pipe show last year. I only have 8 pipes that I can say I purchased as a NEW pipe... This is one of them...
Tnot smoking these quite yet, but I was wondering after opening the tin do you keep them in it or should I transfer the tobacco to a mason jar? These are the first tins I have bought.
@amolmes Mason Jar for sure if you don’t plan to smoke them within a short period of time. It doesn’t hurt to put them in a Mason Jar either way once they are opened, unless you really hate getting the tobacco out of a Mason Jar.
I use the squat wide mouth half pint jars, they are almost like getting the tobacco out of a tin. They will hold about 100 grams/4 oz. depending on moisture content...sometimes I have to pack them pretty tightly. I have read that it is good to have some airspace for aging, but I still pack some pretty tight sometimes, then I shake the jar to loosen it up.
@amolmes Usually after about a week or 2 or 3 (depends on some variables), you'll begin to notice the drying out process has started. Choice is really yours... Jar them after opening (recommended), or when you START to notice moisture depletion... Nice blends you have there...👍
Two of my favorites! Father Dempsey is a good all day English. Spark Plug is absolutley delicious and makes a good relaxing evening pipe. Keep in mind that a plug is a solid chunk of tobacco that needs to be sliced into a flake then rubbed out or folded and stuffed before it can be enjoyed!
Thanks for the info @RockyMountainBriar. Luckily I picked up some of those mason jars a few weeks ago, so I can use those for long-term storage!
@KA9FFJ thanks for the complement on the selection! They were recommended to me by some family friends. I will likely jar them after opening. Thanks for the tips!
@Balisong your comments resound the thoughts of my friends that I consulted. Part of the reason why I purchased Spark Plug was to try out a different kind of tobacco cut, and to widen my horizons as far as tobaccos go! I’m excited to give them both a try!
Well, quite a while back I decided to 50/50 some VG Gold & Black Cavendish with Tinderbox Captain Spice. The result, IMHO, was a very pleasant experience. Since I just had a little of each left, I decided to combine the 2, jar it and label it accordingly. Anyway, that's what I'm having now in a Smokers Haven... The blend is presently going on over 3 years, and it's only getting better.
Still new to the pipe world, but I’m liking this blend. Has that room note I remember from when I was kid and the flavor isn’t bad either. Can’t compare it to anything because I haven’t tried enough blends yet. Really liking aromatic blends for the time being which I don’t understand because I really don’t care for flavored cigars.
@Tellykobacco there are sooooo many variations / blends, since you are just starting I would suggest seeing if there are any pipe clubs in your area as pipe smokers are are always willing to share the blends they smoke.
Aromatics are a great choice but don't limit yourself, beside aromatic blends there are many other types of blends that you may enjoy, I.E. burley blends, enlglish blends, Virginia blends, virginia & perique blends etc.....
@KA9FFJ Hmm, it is an ok smoke, but it has no berry or cream flavor or room note. I have actually started to mix in some RLP-6 to give it some flavor. Maybe they forgot the topping/casing? Well, they didn’t forget, it does have a slight berries and cream pouch note. I might add some BCA or something tonight? I’m just smoking it more often because it is bulk and in a ziplock, I still can’t lay my hands on any half pint wide mouth mason jars to store it in😖

Should I be interested in C&D Berries & Cream? Sounds as if I need to give it a try...
Your thoughts? 🤔
