@KA9FFJ I was kinda bummed out on “MMM” when Missouri Meerschaums were snubbed. 🙁. Not everyone owns a real meerschaum. Heck, there are probably some that don’t have a Missouri Meerschaum either, but at least they should be easily and inexpensively obtained should someone in such a predicament be inclined to participate 🙂. One thing you can say about Mark Twain, he wasn’t an elitist.
Had a bowl of Lane Limited TK-6, Going on dam near two weeks now on an order from P&C, they sent it, nothing yet. UPS must have been hit hard after the holidays.
Totally agree @RockyMountainBriar If it's called a meerschaum, including MM, it should be included as part of MMM, IMHO. My MMs are side by side on the racks with my white meers (WMs) so who's not to invite to the party?😃 I personally will be rotating my MMs in during MMM, and I invite all to join in. After all, one of TPLs many attributes is a spirit of inclusion, so the more the merrier...😁
A Missouri Meerschaum is a construct of a marketing decision to make a corn cob pipe to sound more sophisticated and upscale. Scientifically, they are no more a like than a fish is like a mountain goat. A real meerschaum pipe is carved from a mineral. A Missouri Meerschaum is carved from a corn cob.
The thermometer barely reached 52 degrees in my little corner of Louisiana today. After a night of rain, it was still wet and windy and brought the windchill down to about 45 degrees. I bundled up for two pipes today. A bowl of Imperial Nougat this morning and a bowl of Dragon Flake this afternoon.
Haven't had the chance to smoke in a while. Tonight I was stressing on some things and after the baby went to bed decided it was time I treated myself. I smoked some Pirate Kake provided by my generous secret santa. It was a good strong smoke. Paired it with a Coors yellow jacket. Listened to the rain/sleet fall and relaxed.
Smoking two kinds of “I don’t know” tobacco that I found in a Sir Walter Raleigh pouch (I don’t think it was SWR...probably the remnants of a rubbed out flake of a Gawith tobacco, I just can’t quite place the flavor/aroma), and a little mason jar I had set aside (which might have been the remnants of a cigar that unraveled? It had a chocolate aroma). Smoking a Tsuge pipe again.
@PappyJoe As I'm sure all of us already know, you are 100% correct concerning the definition(s) and attributes differing between a true meerschaum and a cob. So in that corner, I really don't see us disagreeing at all. My only intent of that post was IMHO, summed up by the word "inclusion". So for those that do not have, by true definition, a meerschaum, some of our TPL members, like @RockyMountainBriar don't have to feel "bummed out" and "snubbed". Though I may have been misunderstood (which I'm happy to claim fault), believe me when I say my intentions were good...😁 By the way, I like your hat @PappyJoe ... You're looking dapper...

That’s a good looking meer, even in black and white🙂

I see a nice straight grain peeking out from under the covers😀
Allow me to respectfully disagree.
45 degrees? I’d settle for 45 degrees.....
Awesome brother and well deserved!!
