I'm in no position to purchase more tobacco, having been gifted several ounces over the holidays, so I'm waiting for someone to report on Russ Oullette's latest creation, a rum blend.
"When I came up with Bold Rum, I was thinking of rum flavored truffles, but I didn't want to include chocolate in the blend. So I started with naturally-sweet bright Virginia, smooth white Burley so it would absorb the flavorings, and soft black Cavendish to keep it cool. Then I took the zestiest Jamaican rum flavor I could find and softened to edges with warm, rich vanilla. The result is flavorful and creamy with a pleasant room note. Give yourself a treat with Russ’ Bold Rum."
@motie2. Don't mention "pee" or I start looking for a bathroom. An enlarged prostate is nothing to laugh about... Just loaded up some CB Copper in a Paronelli bent. The verdict is still out on the clear stem, but it is a good smoker...
@KA9FFJ -- I know. Lord, do I know. I ignored bph symptoms for years. The result was two surgeries and seven months with tubes coming out of me. Hell.
Guys, even if you are doctor phobic -- I sure am! -- pay attention to your urological health. When you start having trouble, remember: if you cannot pe, you die.
As an afterthought: once hell commenced, it took me five months to get a different urologist. I waited too long... Again.
@motie2 .Couldn't agree with you more... For the last 10 or so years, I have had numerous tests, including 3 biopsies (boy that was fun), and for a while had to have PSAs done twice a year. Thankful that there is no cancer and that tubes have not been involved with this journey... YET!
Had the time this morning, so I decided to do a second bowl. This time some Creme Brulee in a recently acquired, reworked and refurbed Barclay number 5... I'm starting to look at this pipe more often in my semi-regimented rotation...
A beautiful day here to hang outside in the sun and have a little RLP6 in my MM cob with some great, locally roasted and I freshly ground coffee...mmmmmm
@Londy3 Nice work on the coffee cup I always wanted to try ceramics. We did just a couple things in grade school, and my friends mother had a ceramic shop 35 years ago, but I never gave it a shot. I still have a HUGE ceramic stein her and her friend made for me. It has a “Black Forest” motif. I asked them to fire it to look like it was carved from wood. It turned out perfectly. That thing must hold a half gallon of beer🍺, OR in my case gin🍸, OR Bourbon🥃😬
@KA9FFJ It's cold, but not as cold as it'll get next week. I'm trying to enjoy as much pipe time as I can before it hits single digits. Speaking of which...
Smoking C&D's Big N Burley in my Kaywoodie Billiard while working on my next blog post. While I like this blend, it burns very fast. Still figuring out how to get a nice long smoke out of it.
Hey @thebadgerpiper, That blend and haunted bookshop are ones I've been wanting to try. I guess I kind of fear burly because I don't want the cigarette taste or aroma. I have not tried a burly forward blend for that reason yet. I hope my wrong in my assumption on taste. Thoughts?
Finished off my tine of Holmer Knudsen's yesterday. It's not a bad light aromatic but on the other hand, I probably won't buy it again because it just didn't stand out.
Sutliff 707SweetVirginia in my newly acquired (& hopefully repaired) GBD Dublin.
Repair tip... use real super glue and not the super glue gel when mixing with briar dust to repair a crack. Gel doesn’t permeate like the original does. Keeping my fingers crossed as I smoke it.
Thanks, @RockyMountainBriar. I’ll try that. More concerned about the structural integrity of briar dust and an outside coating of super glue gel. Plus, the bowl gets really hot in the cracked spot. So I’m pretty sure I know what caused it. I’ll see how long I can nurse it along before it blows up!
Sitting in a parking lot of a mall in Lincolnshire Illinois waiting for the snow to fly, smoking a bowl of 10 Russians in one of my stanwell work pipes. it's going to be a long night and even longer Saturday, fortunately the guy I work for doesn't mind me smoking my pipe in the machine I operate and I have a large selection of tobacco to get me through.

Also love the coffee bean cup... Nice...

I will have to round it up and post a pic

just take a permanent black sharpie to it, it will blend right in
