Well as I venture further into the Hyperion Cantos this evenings I'm going to smoke a couple of bowls and have been inspired by other postings about blending aromatics.
First bowel will just be some Star of the East but the second bowl will be a blend of Sutfif Creme Brulee 1-Q and PS 23 B&B
In a Peterson XL 90 and a 80s vintage bent brandy Stanwell dedicated to aromatics; respectively.
It is my wish that all of you on TPL are having a great and peaceful labor day weekend.
Rattray’s 3 Noggins. I bought this four months ago and didn’t really like it. I’m not shouting from the rooftops, but this is pretty good. My first impression wasn’t great, so it has won redemption.
@jfreedy, that's the only way to do it. I am all about creating spaces for the right reasons. My patio for example is our little retreat. My office/stuido is my creative place and the kitchen, well you know about that! Really the focal point of most gatherings so yeah, make it great!
@thebadgerpiper — What are you doing outside?... and where’s your flannel!?
Seriously, nice new pipe. I have an Oom Paul but never feel like I do it justice because I can never smoke more than half a bowl without passing out. That tobacco chamber is huge! Fun pipes, though.
Country Squire's Bag End in my Peterson 302 smooth system pipe. Best smoking pipe I own!
Interestingly, today is the 120th anniversary of the Peterson System patent. Smoking Pipes has a good article on it. The funny thing is that I grabbed this pipe early today not even knowing the significance. From me and all of my fellow Peterson fanboys out there... Well done, Charles Peterson!!
Smoking Brigadier Black Waterloo, in a bent billiard. Good aromatic Vanilla Burley blend.I always liked the "Bull Run" by "BB" which is a very good Black and Gold Cavendish, with a Vanilla top note, but this is a sweeter definitely more aromatic blend...a lot like Captain Black Royal, maybe better.
@mfresa I decided to switch things up a bit. Normally when I smoke a pipe it’s night out, so I took advantage of the daylight. And trust me, I was wearing flannel underneath the vest.
Trying out my newly restored Kaywoodie Billiard that was sent to me from @Londy3 . This one needed some TLC, but it’s looking brand new now. Enjoying a bowl of C&D’s Shandygaff on its initial smoke.
Whistledick McGillicuddy's Ultimate Balkan (don't ask) It is basically 96% Latakia, in an Italian no name bent apple that would probably work better as a gavel than it doe as a pipe.
@thebadgerpiper, good Lord! At what latitude do you live that you can wear such this time of year? I wanna move there. I'll be lucky to be able to put that on in January!
Smoking some seven year old Rattray"s Accountants' Mixture in my Stanwell Author. This is a very sweet smoke with medium flavor and just the right amount of Latakia.
A blend I am told from a long defunct shop that was gifted to me from a friend of a friend whose father had it in a pint mason jar. with the name printed on a piece of tape.
I only have a couple of bowls left which is OK because it tastes old if you know what I mean, I had to re-hydrate it when I got it, so I assumed the lid was not tight.

Currently smoking Sherlock’s Choice in my new Tom Howard Oom Paul pipe.
