My understanding is that Pokers have shorter, straight stems and are sitters. Tankards are named that way mainly because of the shape of the bowl but are closely related to a Poker. The stems on most Tankards have a slight bend and are longer. I'm afraid to make a simple repair by ramming a new tenon into my pipe for fear of screwing it up - and here you are making a work of art from a block of wood.
@Corey562, it looks great! I like the way you kept the rough end of the briar up by the bowl, if it gets burnt a little from a lighter or matches or whatever, nobody will be able to tell. A smooth surface shows discoloration more, IMHO.

So, what's the difference?

Now, perhaps one more shape question: What distinguishes a Dublin from a Zulu? Again, they seem very similar.
Is it the bowl cant? Or a stem bend?
See, this is why you should be a CONNOISSEUR! You probably know this stuff, while I have to look it up.
