@Corey562 A cubuler swirl insert! You're a brave man Charlie Brown! Found an old cheap Lord Kirk (not Captain Kirk) pipe been laying around since spring. You've inspired me to create a purse from a sows' ear. I'll start posting pics in the restoring pipes section and I will tag your name so you can track my progress... Won't compare to your work, but I'll have fun anyway...
Alright I was gonna make this one as a partner for the other full bent but after 25 hrs of work the stem did not turn out how I wanted it to so I guess I will just have to keep it for myself I know what you all are thinking just make another stem and thats just what the wife said but I explained to her that it was just to much work for just one little ole pipe. I doubt she bought that so I think I will have to come up with another reason.
@Corey562 What a beautiful classy pipe! I love the lines on these last 2 pipes. They almost speak to me: "Add me to your rotation... Add me to your rotation..." I"m gonna have to get with you Labour buying one of your pipes. I just need to figure out how to get it past the wife...
@Corey562 Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Do the fantastic job on this pipe that I already know you'll do. Because even though I'm retired and on a limited income, this one may be the pipe for me... As usual, it's looking VERY promising... especially for a "hanger" like me...
@Corey562 I don't know how the grain is looking, but if acceptable with little/few flaws, a high contrast black, then yellow/tan/light brown (you get the idea), would probably be dynamite! Of course you have to go with your own minds eye and your "feel" for the pipe. After all, that's what makes it YOUR creation...
@KA9FFJ I have another stem cor is as well it is a blonde acylic depending on how the stain looks might use it or might just send it out with both. Its gonna be black with a light brown or english tan. The grain patteren looks great with maybe o e little flaw but after the black base coat you would never know its there. Its only about half the size of a needle point.
@Corey562 This is going to be one of those pipes that I can look at the grain patterns for hours! I love that "burled" look. It's gonna be a beauty. Once again, I can see it before it's completed... I can hardly wait to see it stemmed...
