Took the grandson down the end of the street to a small little holding pond (approx. 60 yards by 30 yards) for about an hour to see if we could get any action. He caught one and lost one, I caught 2 and lost one. Nothing big, but on medium-light action open face spinning rigs, they were a lot of fun...
It's a bass. If I would have lipped him they normally fin out. This one obviously was needing a meal. The one before that had a nice little tummy on him. Again, they were small, but still fun to catch, and most importantly, my grandson was having a good time. Give him a rod, reel and a tackle box, and you can leave him alone for HOURS!...
Grandson and I went to another small holding pond this morning. He took a small Rooster Tail and an ultralight open face rig with 4 lb test line to fish for bluegill. The result? 5 - 5 1/4 lb bass! Naturally he was excited and it has made his day...
@KA9FFJ My mouth started watering as soon as I saw the pickled peppers. I love pickled peppers😋, and those look awesome. Do they stay crunchy/crisp? Whenever I try to make pickled peppers they get too soft. I ultimately took all of my canned peppers, jalapeños, habaneros, cheyennes, red/green/yellow and threw them in the blender for hot sauce. They were pickled with a couple of garlic cloves in each jar and sat on the shelf for a year or so before I had the idea of turning them into hot sauce. The hot sauce was excellent, way better than mushy pickled peppers. I still have a couple of tablespoons left in my last jar.
@RockyMountainBriar They stay crisp, just put them in the refrigerator once they're a little warmer than room temperature, and the sudden drop in temp will force the lid to seal. You have to keep them refrigerated. The recipe is very simple. I'll post it in just a few...
In addition to Fire Sprinkler Heads, I also collect Sprinkler System Gauges. I've got 43 and the oldest is a 1945 Water Pressure Gauge. These are difficult to photograph where I have them displayed on a ledge going to the basement.
@Londy3; Beautiful Drawing! To answer your question, I started collecting Sprinkle Heads when I was on the fire department. After I retired, I started to collect Sprinkler Gauges which fit the same theme and I found an endless number from different companies and eras. That and I out of control.
