With President Joseph Biden having now taken office comes news that the White House Office of Management and Budget has issued a freeze on all regulations issued by the Trump Administration that have not yet gone into effect, including the final rules announced last week impacting premarket tobacco applications (PMTA) and Substantial Equivalence (SE) applications. https://tobaccobusiness.com/biden-administration-regulatory-freeze-tobacco-impact/
@motie2 I'm actually okay with a bill like that but I don't think it goes far enough. I think drug stores and pharmacies should only sell medicines and items to promote good health. They should also ban the sell of candy, soft drinks, snack food and alcohol. (In Louisiana just about every drugstore sells beer, wine and hard alcohol.)
The world has changed from when all drug stores/pharmacies well a social meeting place and had soda fountains
I was always afraid Trump might put the screws to the tobacco industry because he's an ardent non-smoker and non-drinker. But in the end his anti-regulation stance seemed to take tobacco out of the cross-hairs. But the current administration is proving to be a major foil for the tobacco industry.
The stated goal is to dissuade young smokers by banning menthol, flavored cigars and in Massachusetts flavored pipe tobacco. We may see something like the British tobacco purity law come into being here. If you like vanilla or liqour flavored pipe tobacco it won't be that hard to do it yourself.
Well, since I'm an aromatic smoker it looks like once my current tobacco cellar is depleted I'll be forced to go back to Captain Black blends. Many of the blends I currently smoke won't meet that 2007 Grandfather deadline.
