@Balisong The Pete 2020 XMas 03 is not a system pipe, those replacement P-Lips are system stems, I’d be curious about how/if the 03 will smoke with it if you give it a go?
@Balisong Glad it worked for you. I an surprised that there was enough room under/around that System Stem tenon to let smoke by without ultimately “gurgling”.
During the IPSD sale I picked up GL Pease cans of Telegraph Hill, Union Square, Fillmore and Triple Play, also a tin of Savinelli Giubileo d'Oro and Mac Baren HH Rustica, and then in bulk Sutliff Virginia slice, Sutliff Matured Red Virginia 515 RC-1, and Newminster 400 Superior Navy Flake.
I don't speak the German, but it looks like it says something about a raunchy toadlick. I think it's an old German folk tale that is sapposed to scare children into not smoking....or licking toads? Who knows, it's lost to time by now.
Seems somebody has been shopping at Esterval's @PappyJoe, Good idea, but I'll have to wait till after the Chicago show, I have a budget but things do happen.
Yep. My bi-annual tobacco order. I love this country and am grateful for all that it has given me but it is frustrating that politicians and bureaucrats have made it difficult to enjoy finer things from other countries. The majority of my cellar are blends made in the U.S. but I won't deny that I have found a number of European blends that I consider to be better than what is readily available. The sad part is that Scandinavian Tobacco Group have some really good blends that they can't sell in the U.S.
The one that has become an almost daily smoker for me is The Untouchables, a collaborative blend made from HU Tobacco, Michael Apitz and Dan Tobacco. I bought two tins to try last May, five tins in September and this order was eight tins (plus two tins for another member of the NOLA pipe club.)
For some reason, most blends made in the U.S. are oversaturated with polyglycol while the blends I've bought from Kohlhase & Kopp, HU, Dan Tobacco and other European blends are.
Don't know if you already have Rossi's, but I've had several and all good pipes. The only irritating thing is that they are more difficult to pass a pipe cleaner through the lip, but you get used to it (its fine going through the rest of the stem). I don't know why Sav hasn't already started making those lip holes a little larger.
@vtgrad2003 Yeah I have a few Rossi pipes. Ive had slight issues. One pipe in particular, when I light it fresh after it's packed kind of whistles while I'm drawing on the char light. Kinda irritating but it stops once lit. No idea 🤷♂️

The pipe smoked great and the Christmas stem looks great on a System Standard 317!
Glad it worked for you.

That is beautiful!
Can hardly wait to see it after you've made some headway to fill it up...
The last time I heard that, someone got slapped!
Heard it or said it?😬
Yes I did!
no. And I can understand the warning label. It’s not that hard. Just remember the stupid labels the put on US tins.

.. yep, that's a Rossi (By Savinelli) pipe in that box 😁

You certainly have! I like that pipe, it is unusual, which is what I like about it.
