Frankly, I was just enjoying being called "Cupcake" (at age 71 !!!) by Mr. Cartwright, and I thought the pic of Oogie was more fitting than my own photo. Ah, c'est frommage.....
It also showcased my frivolous nature and a complete lack of seriousness and/or self-respect.
@motie2 I'm right behind you on the age thing. May 7 I'll be 70. Started smoking a pipe on my 20th birthday, so that will make me a 50 year "piper". As far as the "cupcake" reference, I think I'll let that drop...
You're correct @motie2. That stigma was inforced by "upper management" and reinforced by the same during my stint in the Corps. Once imbedded in the mind, it's difficult to purge...
As some of you know, I have recently purchased ANOTHER @Corey562 pipe. So I decided to make a dedicated 4 pipe rack. It's slightly larger than normal racks to accomidate the generous size of the pipes. My initial 3 pipes are pictured, with a fourth one on the way...
I know, I know, stem down is frowned upon. But, this method seems to work best for me. Sorry, this is a double post. I forgot I'd already posted in this thread earlier.
@TeCarp So many pipes, and so little time... If you hold to a strict rotation, you might smoke the same pipe twice a year... Great set up and nice room decor...
"@TeCarp So many pipes, and so little time... If you hold to a strict rotation, you might smoke the same pipe twice a year... " I honestly have no idea how many pipes I own, or do they own me? Stopped counting at 305 and that was a few years ago. These photos do not include those pipes awaiting cleaning or repair, pipes in drawers and boxes, and cased sets. "Hello, my name is Terry, and I'm a pipeaholic."
@PappyJoe, I got my first pipe, a Dr Grabow, for Christmas in 1966, but my obsession really kicked in in 1975. That's the year I went to work at a local B&M while stationed at Ft Bragg, NC. Since then, I've barely been able to control my fascination with all things pipe and tobacco.
@TeCarp I got my first pipe in 1972. It was probably a Dr. Grabow or Kaywoodie and is long gone. Didn't have more than two or three pipes at a time. I actually didn't get started on my pipe collection until about 8 years ago. I have an accumulation of around 54 pipes. Most of them are smokeable. I have three Meerschaums which I found at antique junk shops that I found were cracked when I smoked them the first time. I have two Bavarian style Hunter pipes that I found in those type of shops which I've cleaned and smoked once but they are display pipes now.
@TeCarp@PappyJoe Got my first pipe on my birthday, May 7, while in college along with a pouch of Amphora Red in 1968 and never looked back. This coming May 7 will make 50 years as a "piper". Where has the time gone? I presently have about 70 / 75 pipes. That's after recently selling about 20 at the St. Louis pipe show in February. Can one ever have too many pipes?
@Darmon Check out the entries on all the pages of this discussion. You might get some ideas. Hint: Go all the way back to the beginning (page 1) and sift through...
@Darmon looks like someone already tagged you in here, some really nice racks in here. Start at beginning and have fun. I know I am going to look back through the pictures and see if anything catches my eyes.

"Ooooooh, oooooh, it stings; it stings....." <not really.....> The very idea is amusing.....
Compared to other things I have been called because of my profession, "Cupcake" is charming.

And, what's your current count.
