@PappyJoe; My sincere sympathy to you and your family for such a great loss. I can't even grasp how you must feel at this time. May God give you all comfort and strength.
I have no words except to say I am so sorry for your loss and will definitely keep you in my prayers for God to give you strength and comfort during this most difficult time. Peace be with you brother @PappyJoe
@PappyJoe My sincere condolences to you and your family Joe. I know “we regulars here” can’t fill that gap, and I think I speak for most of “us regulars”, we are here for to keep you company the best we can, from afar anyway. I’m sorry for your loss. Sincerely, John
Been gone for a while and so sorry to come back at such a sad time.
To @PappyJoe you have my deepest sympathy, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. There are no words to ease the pain you are feeling - but i can only pray that God gives you the strength to endure. I do know that the power of prayer does work - so I pray for you and your family.
And to my friend Gordon, I'm happy to hear you are recovering from what could have been a much more serious health issue.
I've got a lot of catching up to do. A lot has been happening here since I've been gone. Need to get up to speed.
@ghostsofpompeii I know I speak for all: We know you've had some trying times and have noticed your absence, but it doesn't negate the fact that we've all missed you...
Thank you for the condolences. It has not been an easy 58 days since she unexpectedly passed. We are holding a Celebration of Life service on Aug. 22 and will be placing her urn in a plot I have reserved at the SE Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery the next day.
I don't think the people who say "It will get better with time" ever lost someone. August 22 would have been our 49th Anniversary.
When you have a hole in your heart, after almost a half a century of marriage, it will get better in time. But after 50 years, it’ll take a long time. One doesn’t fill a hole that size in just a couple of years.
Emergency surgery last Friday night. Back to having several tubes in me. Doctor opines I have to make it until after labor day befoe anything more can be done. Today: not feeling optimistic.
In case anyone was wondering, my little corner of SE Louisiana survived Hurricane Francine. Slidell was on the east side of the storm where there is usually more damaging wind and rain but we didn't see the worst part of the storm until after 7:00 pm CDT last night. The rain pretty much ended by 11 pm but our area was still subjected to high wind gusts until after midnight. Did I mention flooding?
Anyway, my area didn't suffer nearly the damage that New Orleans and the areas to the southwest did.
So far, I haven't seen any deaths attributed to the hurricane reported.
The cemetery removed all flowers before the hurricane. I went this morning to place new ones and saw that the headstone had been installed. They must have done this on Tuesday.
Life’s path ends, leaving behind only memories of steps taken, leaps tried, grace achieved, and memories of a life shared. We honor such memories with tears and stories, with memories and love. With family and friends.
@PappyJoe My apologies brother. I failed to tell you I started praying for you and yours 2 days ago when I first heard Francine was headed your way. Relieved to hear you're doing ok...

”How long were you married?”
”We had just celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary. I keep expecting him to walk in the door.”
“”50 years of love and caring, and you expect to be getting over your loss so soon? Give yourself time. Lots of time……”
That would tough for any parent to deal with.

Sorry to hear about it. You are at least experienced, however. Prayers for you and your family.

Glad to hear y’all are ok.
I apologize. I intended no offense. Just reacting to your rematks in the same tone.
Glad to hear that you are OK. Hope the B&M where your Pipe club meets didn't sustain any damage.
