@motie2 That doesn’t look very dark for 10 year old whiskey. It might be the thin bottle and the light background? You have tried it? 100 proof and smooth? I had to do the Google for Derek Trucks, I had no idea who he was.
I had/have a bottle of George T. Stagg Barrel Proof Bourbon (141.8 proof to be exact) I bought about 10 years ago for less than $100. I was looking at what people are selling, and buying unopened bottles for recently. It was over two grand US$ maybe higher? I’ll tell you what, if I hadn’t already opened it and drunk most of it, I would have sold it to some sucker. It ain’t that good, and I ain’t that picky. I could use a profit of a few grand.
Total Wine was out of my usual Plantation Barbados 5 year old, so I went for an 8 year old Diplomatico Mantuano ( A less refined version of the 12 year old Reserva Exclusiva ). Recommended for mixed drinks, but I’m enjoying it neat.
I’m enjoying a “modified” Hot Toddy with my pipe this evening.
~8 oz. Hot water 2-ish oz. Tin Cup American Whiskey 1/2 oz. Lime Juice 1 Tbs. Local honey 1/2 Tbs. Brown sugar 1 tsp. Butter Dash of Cinnamon Sprinkle of Nutmeg Hint of Ground Clove
@Zouave1864 It’s awesome. For a traditional cocktail with butter (it’s where I got the idea🙂) try a Hot Buttered Rum with, my favorite, Meyer’s Dark Rum.👍🏻😋
The main departures for my “modified” Hot Toddy were Lime juice instead of lemon, and the additions of the brown sugar and the butter.

How is that?
The little rats…..
Ehh, who needs ice, just put a spritz of cold water in it if you think it might help to “bloom” it🙂
When I drink whiskey, I drink whiskey. When I drink water, I drink water.
Derek Trucks’ New Whiskey Line
... just sayin

I enjoyed a sip or two. But what the hell do I know….. I’m a rum guy.
I do like the bottle/label.

That sounds interesting.
That's a good rum. I have used it as a sipping rum also.
I just bought my second bottle. It’s a great sipping rum, straight. I think I’m not going back to the Plantation Barbados!
(And I only just now noticed the Plantation Barbados rum/Barbados Plantation tobacco coincidence…… )
