@KA9FFJ Actually, I’d like to drop an LS Corvette motor in one and chop the roof 3”. They actually fit fairly easily and can use the original transmission. The original Gertrog 5-Speed is the one people look for. The battery has to be moved from the back to the front of the car, but otherwise a pretty straight forward swap.
These are similar to my 86 SE 2M6, just picture the big rear spoiler from the top car on the bottom car, and wider 17” low profile tires and aftermarket wheels.
NICE! Years ago I had an 86 coupe. Don't know the color name. I just called it maroon. Kept it pristine and loved that car. After about 6-7 years, I gave it to my son to commute back and forth to college. After he had it 3 years, the engine blew. Was offered a really good deal for it by a mechanic friend who wanted it for a father/son project. I never saw it again...😥
I always thought the Fiero's looked sharp and would have bought one but you can't fit a family of six into one of them. The closest I came to a sporty looking car was a used Cavalier Z-24 I bought as a daily commuter to get the wife and I into work in New Orleans. That was a pretty fun drive for a 4-cylinder. Eventually I gave it to our oldest son to drive while in college and like @KA9FFJ he blew the engine a couple of years later.
@opipeman Yep, I remember going into a grocery store that had one with my dad. He had his own portable one (which I have now), but it did not have the “newest” charts for the particular tube he was trying to test at the time. He had a big box ~(30” x 12” x 24”) full of tubes. I think my mother gave them away to someone??? Not sure where they went. I know some of the amplifier tubes are used in high end stereos and amps because they are supposed to produce “cleaner” sound. Some of those tubes can be quite expensive. Me, being about 50% deaf, especially to high and some mid tone frequencies makes little difference. I did use that portable tube tester for a friend that use to work here a few years ago, it still works great…..and looks cool doing it🙂
Oh yeah, when I started in electronics most everything was still tube (analog) but it really changed fast.
The first motion control system I worked on in the Navy was analog control for a missile launcher.
Of course now when you buy tubes (for my tube amplifiers) you can shop for them in matched sets and with measured outputs, however unless you have a test bed and know how to test them, your SOL getting a tube tested today.
The only Caddies I have driven are the bosses SUV‘s that were like the Chevy Yukon (whatever the Caddi model is called?). I always wanted a sedan or coupe, so I never paid much attention, except that those SUV’s did drive “Like a Cadillac”, very smooth🙂. One was a hybrid and kinda strange with the whole stop/start of the gasoline motor at stoplights.
@RockyMountainBriar Those are two of the Caddies from James Bonds', Live and Let Die; the Fillet of Soul was where Dr. Kananga hung out (he was the bad guy). They shot a white Cadillac in another scene too. This movie was full of Cadillacs.

Who the hell told you?
My first car was a 1953 Mercury two door flat head. It too could have run forever. I wish I still had it.

Have you ever been tempted to drop an old Cadillac engine in one of those Fieros?

Now that I think about it, except for a go-cart, I've never driven so low to the ground.😬
You're damn straight it was! Some of the best classroom VD prevention films I ever saw was on one of them things!

Oh man...I had a fire red fiero and loved it. Was a blast to drive. I've had Cadillacs ever since
I’ve never had a Caddi, but one has always been on my “bucket list”….not sure I’ll ever make it now😢
I've never even driven a Cadillac. I've driven various Fire Apparatus, does that count?
vaguely , but I don’t recall the movie?
Plus the DeVille can hold like six people in the truck with room to spare. Just sayin 😎

Indeed, I’d like to play a little solitaire with her🙂. She has aged pretty well too.
Did I type that out loud….bad John…..bad John.
Jane Seymour is a handsome woman. I'd like to spend an hour or two sharing pictures of our grandchildren.
