Just after dinner getting ready for a night of online WoT’s. Gonna stuff this Pete with some 9 year old PS “Luxury Twist Flake”, paired with some Bourbon on the rocks.
I fired up a second bowl in the same Pete. This time some C&D "Spiced Latte". It smells like their "Espresso" that I love, with some cherry cream added in. It actually smells just like one of my favorite candies, Queen Ann Cherries...the milk chocolate kind. It doesn't quite taste like them though when smoking it. I thought about digging in with a spoon, but then I came to my senses
I'm finishing a bowl from last night, I wish I could remember what I packed in the Peterson Clontarf 606! I started the day with Charring Cross in a Diplomat, followed by Balkan Mixture in a Pride.
I just tried some Sutliff Peppermint Mocha, the Peppermint comes through loud and clear, almost sinus clearing. It would definitely need something to calm down the Peppermint.
@PappyJoe; I have a question. In 2020, I put some "Captain Black Original" in mason jars and sealed them tight. About a week ago, I opened one (still sealed) and placed about half of it in a Tupperware container resealed the jar and placed the Sealed Tupperware on a bench in my Smoking Shed. A few days later I opened the Tupperware and found that the tobac had a thin coating of mold on the surface. My question is smoke it or toss it? I appreciate your time.
@PappyJoe, @KA9FFJ I hope you don’t mind me chiming in. Not to be a debbie downer, but mold in the lungs could be devastating, not to mention probably not taste good anyway. The heat would most likely kill the spores anyway, but I wouldn’t take that chance. Anything (medication) that kills mold kills you, though very, very, very rare, mold internal “infections” look like a damn nasty way to go ti me😳. I had to throw away a full box of my homegrown, home cured, hand rolled, sized, perfecto pressed cigars because I failed to read my hygrometer correctly and the mold ruined them. I don’t know how much time and effort I put into these cigars, but I nearly cried when I tossed them in the shitcan.😢
@Londy3 It is much, much better. I disliked it when I first tried it 9 years ago, that is why it has been sitting so long. It might have been better if it is was not opened and jarred, but I don’t know how much less aging is accomplished when “de-tinned” and jarred. It is still nearly black, compared to the very light color it was when fresh. I keep hoping some day I open a straight Virginia and it has the “anointment” of sugar crystals I have heard tales of 🙂 Following Mark Irwin’s penchant for the Peterson 4AB and it’s siblings loaded with Virginia’s, I can say this pipe does smoke them well.
Interrupted my Sunday off to work a Dance Club party of 25 young ladies (5-8 years old). Back home now with a bowl of The Untouchables and a glass of rum.
@RockyMountainBriar Thanks for the info. I have an unopened tin of three years along with several others aging. I will wait a while longer and give it a try.
Earlier today, some Frankenblend in a reworked Jost bent. Finishing the day with: 50/50 VG Gold & Black Cavendish + Tinderbox Captain Spice in an Emerald MM cob...
@KA9FFJ thank you sir. It's a great pipe, but it's also the one I broke last year and repaired with the silver sleeve. It's always bugged me, but it smokes so great.
@PappyJoe; After the worst year with the China Plague, masks, shutdowns, and all that came with it. To bring a few moments of joy to kids is a great thing that you are doing. You sir are one good man!

That's strange. I would just toss it myself.
The question though is what was in the Tupperware container before you put the tobacco in it?

So how is GS after 9 years?
