"Why, when I was your age, we used to walk to school, thirty miles in the snow." <Or any other cliche involving elders and youth..... Read Ecclesiastes.>
@jfreedy That almost looks like a Case knife. I see writing at the base of the longest blade but I'm not able to make it out. I grew up in Bradford, PA. Home of the Zippo lighter and Case knives. Both quality classics!
Currently have a small 2-blade folder marked Garrett Wade that came with a tool order from there. I do have one of my dad's pocket knives put away, as well as those of my own that I didn't lose over the years.
I have a Leatherman Wave in my EDC bag and it's got a couple of great blades. I carry a simple Case Texas Toothpick in my pocket daily. For fishing and outdoor adventures, and I carry a Case Shark Tooth. .
Only pics of my knives is this on of my EDC. My main pocket knife (Top Right) is a Damascus folding blade I found at a gun show in Dallas, but y'all can find it at http://knivesandhunting.net/product/5003/ It's a GREAT blade, and holds it's edge extremely well. We recently moved, and after cutting cardboard boxes apart for a few hours post-move, it was still able to cut paper cleanly. My secondary blade(s) are on my leatherman, which are wicked sharp out of the factory. One is a straight blade, and the other is a serrated which also has a hook blade on it as well. Haven't needed to sharpen these yet, but I don't use them as much. Lastly I have my folding carving blades for whittling when I'm waiting on my wife to finish shopping.
Depending on what the day has in store, and subject to change at any moment, these seem to have been my choices lately. The Leatherman covers just about anything from yard work to fishing. The Opinel sharpens to a filet edge but isn't a knife for heavy duty use. That Dozier design by Kabar is very tough and very inexpensive for what you get. It's cheap enough to drop overboard without producing tears. Lastly is my "town knife" - it's from Santa Fe Stoneworks and has mammoth tooth scales....a Christmas gift from my wife.
I love my knives. I have many different shapes, sizes, and types. But the HANDIEST knife I own is a little Swiss keychain knife. I use this knife so much, that I always have 1 or 2 extras on hand for spares...
@KA9FFJ I sure to have a red Swiss army knife non my key chain just like yours. You're right, comes in handy a lot. However, I need a new once since TSA confiscated mine! I have several all around the house. Sometimes I carry a survival knife because the blade is really sharp. I do miss my Swiss 😭
@Londy3 A story about the TSA. I was flying to Vegas and forgot about the knife until at the check-in counter. I asked if I could leave the little guy there behind the counter until I returned. She relunctantly said yes with no guarantee it would be there when I returned... Got back to St. Louis a week later, still there! What were the odds? 😅
