Started my morning with some Bijou. Watched a lot of YouTube vids that showed mold in their tins and it got me paranoid. I laid everything out. Seems all good, so I can breathe easy. Literally.
Two Bowl Monday! First was some Captain Earle's Mystic in a meerschaum. Second was the last of some Tewksbury Bar Harbour in a corn cob. I was given a sample of the Bar Harbour at the last pipe club meeting and it was pretty good. My wife came outside while I was smoking it and said it smelled good. Unfortunately Tewksbury is out of business and no one knows the recipe.
Two days ago, six inches of snow. Today, 63 degrees and forecast calls for 70 tomorrow. No, there's nothing wrong with the weather. That's commie talk. I celebrated the weather and IPSD with a bowl of 50/50 Mrs. Hudson's and Barbados Plantation. Also received my new pipe won at eBay auction. I paid $9.50 for a sandblasted used version; A smooth used version sold for $26.00. The pipe is lightweight for a pipe with thick walls. I'd post a picture, but I've sent three pix from my iPad and they have not shown up in my email box. Maybe later? I should mention that this is my tenth pipe and my eighth Carey pipe.
Happy IPSD! Just got home from work and I'm enjoying both the 64 degree temperature and a bowl of Sutlff Molto Dolce in my Savinelli Porto Cervo Author. Cheers!
@ghostsofpompeii -- As you know, I am the #1 fan of your Mrs. Hudson's blend, and that I finally got around to mixing Mrs. Hudson's 50/50 with Barbados Plantation. And it's wonderful. So the past few nice days we've had I've enjoyed a bowl of the 50/50 mix. Today it was 63 degrees outside, bright and sunny, and I enjoyed a bowl of the mix at about 1pm on the rear deck. Then, at about three I thought, what the heck, it's IPSD, and so I set about having a bowl of Barbados Plantation straight in my newly won Carey........ And now I remember how much I love Barbados Plantation....
After moving "operations" into my garage due to my wife being home with the flu, I've finally been able to fire up my Peterson sitter and smoke some Virginia Reserve from the Owl Shop, New Haven. I'm almost ready to move on to Escudo Navy De Luxe.
