What happened at P&C?!?

  • I've gotten 4 notices and my order hasn't arrived yet, It looks as if they're not doing First in/First out. Anyone care to bet that it wont come with a coupon either?
  • I got a coupon for $60 off a $160 dollar purchase of wine. Go figure....

    The order I placed on IPSD has yet to arrive. Like others, I've received a number of apologetic emails. I'm too old to panic or get pissed off, so my plan is to keep the faith and carry on.

    I got a box yesterday containing the peterson coffee sample that they advertised on ipsd.  Still no tobacco/refund or communication however, I'm sure they are closed for the weekend (though we can hope the warehouse is still working to fulfill orders?) @motie2 I also got a wine coupon that went straight in the trash.

    @motie2 I am glad you were able to get your original name back on TPL. I placed my order on IPSD eve and still nothing. I am getting a bit worried about my order because I have emailed twice with no direct response to those emails. I have received the default pre-made emails but nothing else. I am patient but all of the items I had ordered were in stock and have been until just the other day which now some are backordered and others out of stock. Hope it all comes soon, finger crossed.

    Just picked up four Dunhill Tins with that MAR17 code. I guess in this case it doesn't make a difference when they get here,as long as they get here. They're for cellaring anyway and the longer they're away from me, the less temptation I'll have to open them. ha ha

  • My March 1 order hasn't showed,but an email has. I'm not in a hurry - none of this is for near tern use anyway.

    If they had sent this message out to everyone in the beginning, I probably wouldn't have had to send them they pissy sounding email yesterday.
  • Some of you guys should have probably been charged an additional fee for your tobaccos being aged a little longer, than they would have been if they had arrived promptly. I know I have had to pay two or three times suggested retail for aged tins. I am always disappointed when an order arrives, and the date on the tin indicates that it was tinned last month.

    @xdutchx HA HA HA you may be right just a small fee. I still haven't received my order; I called and they told me they were working 15 hour shifts... but half of my order isn't in stock? I wonder what they are shipping if it isn't in stock? So they do not know when it will ship? We will see hopefully soon.

    I am pleased to announce that earlier this afternoon I received partial fulfillment of the order I placed with P&C on IPSD. Needless to say, I am profoundly relieved and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the TPL community for their friendship and kind support during this troubled time.

    I received notice that the last of my order has shipped.  Tracking shows in transit, however no confirmed arrival date.

    If I hadn't been reading this conversation I would have never known that P & C was having any problems at all. Maybe I was lucky enough to have skipped their rough patch but I put an order in last week and a few days later everything showed up. I've had things put on backorder in the past, but not this time. Full and on time. Very happy. 

    Hope they iron-out any problems and you can all say the same thing. I wouldn't dump a supplier over an order or two. It's more important to me to have several good places to go. I don't like the 'all the eggs in one basket' approach in business. If on the other hand I feel like I'm not going to get the service I expect, then that's another story.

    As for Pipes & Cigar, count me as a happy customer.
  • They haven't filled my order from Feb 19th yet, they say they wont charge my account until they fill it, I want the tobacco for cellaring but I'll be needing the supplies by next month. I guess I can order some from Smoking Pipes or 4Noggins if I get close to the semi urgent point.

  • I still haven't heard a word on the order I made on February 20th. All the tobacco I ordered is in, but the Twain Cob I added at the end is backordered, which is what I'm guessing is holding the order up. It's fine, I'm patient, but I wish I would've picked a different cob if this was going to be the result.
  • I've gotten 3 apologies, still nothing. Their system didn't crash, it's a meltdown.
  • @Woodsman Sorry to hear that. I eventually received my delayed order as well as the one afterwards in which I applied the $20.00 apology coupon. That second order actually arrived in about the normal time I'd come to expect for a tobacco order. So I assumed the problem had been rectified. Maybe I better hold off on the order I was about to place if there still is a problem.  
  • Honestly @ghostsofpompeii , if you were going to make an order, go for it. While I'm still waiting for my order (and haven't received an update on it for about a week...), I think all of their problems are with the IPSD orders, not the current ones. I haven't heard any issues from people ordering from P&C since the meltdown.

    You couldn't pay me to order from them again.  I have been waiting 2 weeks for a reply to my emails to them regarding the paid for but never shipped seven tins of tobacco.  I have called a few times, most of the time it is a busy signal and others I usually give up after 15 minutes of hold time-though I did get through once when I was told they were working hard and that even thought my items were back ordered they would ship out soon.  Since that phone call I have gotten three orders on my doorstep from smokingpipes.  @Woodsman is right, this was a meltdown not a crash.  I simply want to sort out my back order mess and that will be my last dealing with this incompetent corporation.

    I don't have facebook but do any of you know what is being said on there?  I tried to look but it keeps telling me to sign up so I gave up

    I ordered from TobaccoPipes.com yesterday, and within a couple of hours I received a shipping notification.  That, plus free shipping on all orders equals my new tobacco supplier.

    @2b1ask1 I have had great success with tobacco pipes and I like the free shipping with my order regardless of dollar amount spent. Figure there is where my future orders will go. I am still waiting for my order from Feb. 19th from P&C I figured 4 more days and it will be a month. I agree with @woodsman their system is NOT working on a first in / first out basis. I think that is why everyone who ordered after the "meltdown" has received their orders. Those before... well it appears we are all still waiting, I just don't understand why some have gotten partial orders while others haven't gotten anything??? Why ship a partial; but then someone else not ship anything on their order? I know for me my order only has 2 items back ordered the rest of the order is in stock? While I appreciate the emails from P&C and the more detailed description that was provided by @trailboss I feel P&C should have put some kind of banner up on the website or something to let people know the issues they were having other than a form letter, heck update the form letter to include details and for heaven's sake don't update your system shortly before a major pipe holiday... Oh well, "La vie aussi"!
  • I, too, am looking for a consistently reliable source, now that P&C has apparently lost their way. However, I notice that TobaccoPipes.com's prices for tobacco are much higher than P&C's prices. (I'm talking Sutliff Private Stock blends.) I'll keep looking......
  • Just been checking prices at a few of the more widely known suppliers. 
    I think I'll be doing business with http://www.smokingpipes.com whose prices seem comparable to what I was paying at P&C. 
    Both sites charge for shipping, but I'd rather pay shipping than what appear to be significantly higher individual prices.
  • I've used smoking pipes often, if they have a problem it's rectified immediately.

    I just checked out the P&C Facebook page and a lot of their regular customers are going completely ape shit. They've got some unhappy campers there and it doesn't seem like they're doing much in the way of damage control.
  • They can't, there's not much you can do in a meltdown. I think I'll just tell them I'm re ordering and cancel my original order. They need to spend mucho bucks on a system engineering Guru.

    I just got an email stating my order has shipped I placed the order on the 3rd or 4th
