The ranks are as followed:

Newcomer
5 discussions & 10 comments

Apprentice

15 discussions & 40 comments

Enthusiast

40 discussions & 75 comments

Professor

100 discussions & 150 comments

Connoisseur

200 discussions & 300 comments

Master

400 discussions & 500 comments

I really think some of the categories should be either or like to make apprentice it should be either 15 discussions and 40 post or 100 posts.

I would suggest that maybe you have a system where number of points get you to the various rankings, with posting getting more points than commenting, if you want to encourage people to start threads. Some people - and I include myself in this - may comment a lot more than they start threads. Both are valuable to forum life.

@drac2485, it may be a system where you get X points for starting a discussion, Y points for contributing,and a new level is achieved when the total points = Z,you get that label. That lets it be an algorithm in the Forum code - don't want Admins to have to do it.

I just earned enthusiast at 150 comments. The initial list at the top of this page shows that as being professor... may need to change that list.

@drac2485 - I think it also is a cumulative system. You haven't reached the 40 discussions but you doubled the number of comments needed for enthusiast.
