Billings, Montana. Born in Miles City, Montana. Forsyth did not have a baby doc at the time. Can you say, "I was born in the sticks"? Have always lived in Montana (Forsyth,Billings,Bozeman,Billings,Bozeman,Billings). Pretty sure I am going to die here. I ain't leave'n. John
Tampa now was born and raised in Cleveland. That is where I started pipe smoking as a teen. After Army wife found a pipe store in downtown Cleveland, he mixed me a special blend, smoked that till I moved to Phoenix. He retired and had to find a match found it and been smoking same blend since 1978.
A little town called Wilson on the shores of Lake Ontario not too far from the raging waters of Niagara Falls. In the very commie state of New York, I'm afraid to say.
Chicago, IL. Andersonville neighborhood to be exact. Several miles north of downtown, half mile west of Lake Michigan. I usually stop at the lake front while riding my bike home from work and have a smoke before heading home. Nice way to relax in the summer.
@MaukaPiper, I used to ride my bike along the lakefront to/from downtown when my ex and I lived in Old Town. I didn't smoke back then though. Nowadays, since I live in the 'burbs, I'm relegated to riding a Divvy to/from Olgalvie (sp?) station and the medical district. I'll have to get into the habit of stoping at one of the parks along the way for a relaxing pipe break.
@Jdalen Did you happen go to Updown Cigar when you lived in Old Town? Now that you've taken up the hobby is there a place in the burbs you go to? I usually go to Iwan Ries for my stuff. A lot of people post pics of mountains and lakes while smoking a pipe, but sitting on the lake front with that beautiful Chicago skyline is just as relaxing to me. I think a relaxing pipe is in order before getting on the Metra )
@MaukaPiper I lived only a few blocks (Sedgwick& North) from Updown and I went to Updown a few times to buy cigars (this would have been in the late 90's) but I hadn't yet "acquired" the pipe hobby. I occasionally go to Iwan Ries but find myself supporting my vice through various internet sites. Currently, I'm not too far from Windy City Cigars in Lake Zurich but, alas, haven't made a pilgrimage there yet. Agreed. part of the reason I went to high school near the Little Italy neighborhood and UIC for collage was because I love the city so much. Awesome skyline and the lake to boot.
Parker, CO at the moment, but moving to the Salt Lake City area, Bluffdale to be exact, soon (wife's job). Ahh, Utah, a veritable wasteland when it comes to tobacco and smoking. Drinking too, for that matter. The prevailing religious mindset in UT makes it difficult and expensive to do both. There's only 3 tobacco shops in the area and you can't legally smoke in any of them! But I will persevere and most likely upset my Mormon neighbors! Oh well, the scenery is spectacular, though.
