@RockyMountainBriar Yes. But then Karma reached out and tapped me on the shoulder. About 30 minutes after I posted this, I found out that the AC fan on our outdoor unit decided it was too tired to work and stopped spinning. The compressor was still running but the fan motor wouldn't start. Called the AC company we have been using for years and found out the owners sold the business to a larger company and they couldn't get anyone out until after 9:00 am this morning.
It was a lovely 84 degrees outside yesterday, and with the roofing being done the inside the hours temperature went up to 82 degrees. It dropped to 79 degrees inside last night and was humid.
@opipeman Who knew a new A/C & heating system would almost cost as much as a new car. I made it a little more expensive by asking if the could replace all the ductwork in the attic though. Before that it would only have cost about the same as a pre-owned SUV with less than 5k miles.
@KA9FFJ Rooftops and chimneys in the winter is a lot easier than no air conditioning in SE Louisiana during the summer.
@PappyJoe; Had to replace our HVAC winter before last. It was the third furnace in our place that was built in about 1958. The older I get the more important year around comfort becomes. It wasn't cheap, but they tell me my arm and leg may grow back in time.
I have to begin this by saying I have been an absolute bastard the past few days around the house. I have been lying a new patio at the house. Digging down about 6 inches of soil, moving and raking out 3.5 tons of gravel, and laying 50lb. Paving stones. Every part on me currently hurts. I have not ben a pleasant person to be around. My wife came home from a buisness trip to Chicago and had this in her bag for me. Put me back in my place.
@RockyMountainBriar At first I found your pic disturbing. I rarely have seen you with a long straight shanked pipe. 😉 Looks classy, I like it... 👍🏻 But it begs the question; does that pipe make you sing like Bing?😏
It's my birthday today. I'm 75... again... Since I know I won't be getting a chocolate cake today, I went with the next best thing: Honey Chocolate in one of my Frankenpipes...
Digging in my filing cabinet and found a jar of Peterson Summertime 2015. Loaded it into my Soren Danish Freehand. First thing I noticed was why I don’t smoke this pipe very often - I don’t like the vulcanite stem on this one. It’s the only stem I have that immediately discolors when I smoke it. I need to either get an acrylic stem or sell it.
Lovely, sunny two bowl day: Blue Danube this morning; Cult Blood Red Moon, right now, this afternoon. ….. and maybe Balkan Sasieni this evening, after dinner
First bowl, in a new to me Weber pipe, is the last bowl of no bite delite in the cupboard. I won’t be replacing this but it’ll make way for a tin I plan to crack open. $5 eBay pipe that just needed a little love.
Yard work nearly all day. Finally relaxing with some 4 year old E. India Trading Co. Cellar Reserve in my little blue Frankenpipe. This blend is mild and mellow IMHO. A perfect blend to enjoy while doing what I'm doing... nothing 😏
The Silmarillion is a lot like the Bible. Not because of its content, but rather because one tends to gain more knowledge, facts and understanding with each reading. There always seems to be something "new" that my pea brain didn't grasp or notice during the last session(s). Anyway, celebrating the last chapter with some Peter Stokkebye 24 Nougat in what I call my LOTR pipe...

Seems like it is always something. On the bright side.....never mind there is no bright side.
I think @PappyJoe probably has plenty of experience with roofs, chimneys, etc...

May the 4th be with you...
Looks like you picked a winner, you lucky bastard🙂
Sometimes an enabler is a good thing👍🏻

Call me crazy, but I miss manual labor. On another note, you got a winner of a Bride, Brother.

Actually, I'm 76. But I am no longer having "advancing" birthdays, so I'm 75... again...
But tnx for the congrats. Much appreciated.
Happy Birthday, Brother. You keep this up and soon you will be as old as meself. Every year is a blessing.

Accordingly, doing some Ashton Rainy Day in a restemmed noname...
Rainy days are a Pipe Smoker's dream.
