I finished my little pipe of Lancer's while the 6 pound Red Rooster finished roasting, and, after a delicious dinner it's on to Peretti Tashkent in an MM Kingston Judge.
Was poking around the cellar this morning looking for something new to try when I came across 2 tins of a blend I made at the blending seminar at the 2019 Chicago pipe show.
They gave us new round tins to take our blends home and I decided at the time to use my food saver to vacuum pack them for ageing.
After removing the plastic over wrap I realized that the process had actually vacuumed the tin enough to seal it,
Now I am wondering if it would be enough to reseal an already used tin, not that I would necessarily but I am curious.
The blend is a English oriental and has aged enough to be noticeably better, smoked in a bent Dublin Mario Grande.

@mapletop Sounds like it should work. If the tin lids sucks down and stays down after you release the vacuum, I’d say it worked.
Smoking some C&D “Espresso” in another one of my handmade pipes this morning while enjoying some Ethiopian “Wush Wush” coffee from beans that my favorite nephew gave me for Christmas….tasty stuff.
Today I had a couple of cobs filled with Charring Cross and a couple filled with Tashkent. After a piece of apple pie that my wife made last night, I'm ending the day with Peterson Flake in an MM Rory.
Drying out some CAO “Moontrance” to stuff in this old Comoy’s Deluxe Billiard shape 19. Pairing it with some Ethiopian “Wush Wush” French Press coffee in my sweet new Ember mug my mom’s monetary gift bought me for Christmas.
I said I would report back when I received the shipment of "Sugar Barrel", and here goes. I'm no tobacco reviewer, but here is what I noticed after three consecutive bowls. The pouch aroma is pleasant, there are big flakes of bright in the blend, but whatever else is present is a mystery to me. The smoke is as mild as any tobac I've ever smoked, but it has absolutely no taste. Totally without taste. No taste and no after taste. I didn't remember that from years ago. Maybe that is why I forgot about it.
Well I'm getting ready for my post dinner bowl and man do I need it, tough day; smoking some SPC Mississippi River rum barrel for the first time in my favorite poker.
My wife who has been angelic for the past two weeks pulled the proverbial Mr. Hyde on me this morning and while I am good at shining that sort of stuff on, it got under my skin.
I was going to make her a dinner of shrimp fra diavolo (and did) but by noon I wanted to call her and tell she was on her own tonight. agaah.
The bourbon definitely helped.
And then my Polish neighbors, a lovely coupe we've known for 30 years dropped off a bottle of their homemade eggnog, I swear this stuff is at least 130 proof, it'll peel your eyeballs right back.
@mfresa; Funny you should ask. I've fired it up several times in the last few weeks just to be able to smoke in a comfort. When it gets close to zero(7-8 degrees now) I have a decision to make. Is it worth going to the shed and starting a fire, and waiting for it to warm to comfort level to smoke 2-3 bowls of tobac? If I have to shovel a path that complicates the decision. Other issues inter into my thinking, like what it took to cut up the planks salvaged from my neighbors old deck. I have plenty wood cut for my stove, but it's almost like it becomes a precious resource. Like @KA9FFJ mentioned in an earlier post Pipe Smoking is not an addition.

And I still haven't experimented with it.

Nice looking pipe. Love them Savinellis.
Hey, a cherry that doesn't suck.
Mild weather; on the rear deck.
Life, for the moment, is good!
Sounds forgettable indeed.

You got me drooling again.
On winter vacation. It will come back in August.
