Tnx @Kmhartle It's now a welcome part of my humble meerschaum collection.
@PappyJoe That's ok brother. Come March 1, we will still all be waiting to see which one of your meerschaums you'll be using to start us off on a month of "madness"... 😁 By the way, really like that pipe...
@KA9FFJ I'm probably going to kick off March with my US Coast Guard meerschaum. I just counted and I have 10 meerschaums to rotate through and will post photos as I smoke them.
C&D's Captain Bob's Blend..... the weirdest pipe tobacco I've ever smoked..... a stronglyAROMATIC English blend with Latakia and Perique.... and it's becoming my go-to blend.
Getting a late start this morning with some Sutliff Christmas Spice in a reworked and refurbed Archway. This really is a good blend, with or without Christmas...
Smoking my second bowl of C&D's Old Joe Krantz White Label in my Emerald cob. So far, I'm really enjoying the added burley in this OJK variation. I'll definitely pick up another tin of this in my next tobacco order.
Using a Hilson 201 Viva while doing some 1909 Late August Evening from Covington's, one of 63 of his House Blends. Heavy Danish Black, Vanilla Cavendish, Bright Virginia, Traditional Cavendish and Oriental Silk. Mixed with real ground Mandarin Rooibos Orange peel, then fused for a month with Paul Masson Grande Amber Brandy & orange oil... Lights easiy, after 3 or 4 draws, the orange start making it's appearance. Another 3 or 4 puffs, the brandy starts joining in, but the citrus stays to the forefront. Room note is pleasant, not overpowering. This is s good sipping blend. Trying to just puff away will lead to a threatening of tongue bite. But smoking your pipe as it should be smoked, will leave you with a VERY pleasant experience... Conclusion: If you're looking for a citrus based blend, I would recommend 1909 Late August Evening in a heart beat...
Smoking some Captain Black Cherry in this old Comoy’s stretch of briar. I have had this tobacco for awhile, but had not got around to it until today. I like it! Smooth, creamy, cherry without a scented wax candle note. In my opinion, much better than the Cult “Blood Red Moon” that gets such high reviews.
@Londy3 I'm going to ditto @RockyMountainBriar You have some pretty cool pipes yourself. Although I must say that stretch certainly got a second glance from me...
@RockyMountainBriar have you tried Lane's Dark Red? I know it also contains hints of vanilla and carmel, but you still get the cherry in a toned down version... I had a free bowl at the St. Louis pipe show and wound up getting another free bowl before the day was out... Yeah, I know, call me cheap...
Blended a 50/50 mixture of Blood Red Moon and Sutliff Creme Brulee. Not a big cherry blend fan - but the addition of the Creme Brulee toned it down considerably, making for a very pleasant smoke. Smoked it in one of my Nording Harmony Freehand pipes.
Following suit with @ghostsofpompeii. Also decided to do a 50/50 blend. Tinderbox Peach Melba and VG Black Cavendish in a reworked, refurbed noname made in Italy bent... Boy, that was a mouthful! 😬
I was cleaning out one of my cigar humidors...actually my smaller of two Pelican Cases I use for humidors, and found five “cut-offs” from some CAO Moontrance cigarillos. Why do I have cut-offs from cigarillos you ask? Well, I made myself a mini travel herfidor from a Flambeau (gasket sealed) fly fishing fly storage case. It was about 1/8” shorter than the cigarillos.....so I cut them down with a cigar cutter a smidge to fit. It holds six cigarillos (I think....it has been awhile since I had it filled). I decided to smoke some of the cut-offs in my Pete short #03 this evening. Tasty....The cigars have a completely different taste and aroma than CAO Moontrance pipe tobacco. I get coconut in the cigars, but none at all in the pipe tobacco....bummer for me, I love coconut. The little case is great for traveling on my Sportster (no saddlebags for big cigars), or whenever I want to keep things light.
Currently smoking GLP's Jackknife Plug in my Stanwell Liverpool pipe. I'm happy to report that this batch doesn't have the mold problem my previous tin had.
@thebadgerpiper I too have taken the plunge again after a mold issue with Jackknife plug; I'm happy to report that the latest two tins were fine.
I have, changed my cellaring procedure with this blend by placing the plugs in smaller canning jars as a quarantine, after 3-4 months I stack them in quart jars.
Blended some Red Carpet with some Simply Red (Virginia) and Esoterica Tilbury. Has a nice bottom with the Red Carpet Perique and depth and sweetness from the others.

Way cool pipes boys. Wish I had cool ones like that.
I don’t know, I have seen a few of your pipes that are pretty nice👍🏻
Although I must say that stretch certainly got a second glance from me...

So, of course, it was discontinued.
So I'm doing my best to ration it...
Yes, I have Lane Dark Red, it has been in my cellar for awhile as well. I have not smoked it yet though either. I must be slack’n.
