Any issue with using wood glue on a pipe? I connected my corncob’s stem to the bowl with wood glue but then wondered if this was the right thing to do. I’m using Gorilla wood glue which says is nontoxic. Sooo...
@jfreedy, thank you. My wife got me an attachment for my drill press that let's me turn stems more efficiently. Takes the pain out of stem work (for the moment anyway).
@jfreedy I used Elmer’s Carpenters Glue on the one with the wooden stem. The other stem is just a friction fit, it has a long metal farrule so it works fine. I might put a short wooden shank or plug in it later.
I made quite a few mistakes, but I’m doing a decent salvage job on it so far I think. For a first time wood working project only using hand tools anyway. I’ve actually been doing things in a very primitive way because all I have are a few good tools and my brain. Or what’s left of it. Lol.
Spent about 4 hours sawing and shaping what part of the bowl I didn’t screw up. It was a cheap, reject block, so I’m gonna get another soon.
@Corey562 Thanks! I appreciate it. Your pieces are awesome. I’ve been checking out the pipes some of you guys make here and it’s quite inspiring. There is no pipe culture where I live, so this forum and YouTube are my only exposure to getting to see people make them.
@RandyB1966 here is one I started today and had some pitting so it to will be a shop pipe. The other 2 blowfish are coming along nicely I will post pics soon..
