I tend to pick a tobacco and stick with it, I am way too predictable. I find country squire Rivendell to be a great aero. It hits up front with a lot of coaco. Best of all my wife doesn't complain when I smoke it around her.
@AceFour I saw the thing with The Country Squire being discussed on another pipe forum. One of the admin claimed all The Squire’s blends were nothing but repackaged Sutliff bulk blends.
Yeah saw that too. I happen to know they use a lot of different bulks to make their blends and they get tweaked before they become their blends. To be clear, they are not a tobacco manufacturer and cannot use raw leaf. Same goes for all tobacconists with their own blends such as Boswell's and Watch City Cigars unless the contract a manufacturer to make a blend which was the case for the tinned 500th Episode Blend from Country Squire.
Jon David also buys a lot of bulk tobacco that is made and sold for blending. There has been a market for component tobaccos - straight Virginias, straight burley and straight cavendish tobaccos since the beginning of the tobacco industry. The same with component aromatics, You can by cased black cavendish in many different flavors. The difference, in my opinion, is that bulk blends like 1Q and BCA are not a single tobacco but are blends of component tobaccos.
I would be personally disappointed to learn that The Country Squire has been doing nothing but blending different bulk blends together to create their house blends.

I'll burn a bowl in your honor, Brother.

They are awesome blends.
If you favor 1-Q, you should really consider trying “Boswell’s Best” blend, a substantial upgrade, but very familiar to a 1-Q fan.
