@motie2 I'll do that. I'm always questioning things like this until I can see it on a verifiable news source. Let's just say I like to do my own fact checking.
Well the first problem is suggesting that PappyJoe use THE most biased search engine out there,; one that never produces balanced results. In fact there is so much out there that Google will never display no mater how many pages you review. Try it for yourself; open 2 tabs one with Google and one with duck duck go and the difference is stark. There was a time when I considered the statement (Lying by omission of the truth) as false. That changed some time ago as the MSM and many others including google became the arbiters / propagandists.
@vtgrad2003 I was surprised to learn that my children were unfamiliar with the term "sitting Indian style" when I used it, they had no idea what I was talking about. They now teach the kids to sit "criss cross applesauce"
Yesterday former President Trump announced his new social platform. Before you consider signing up for the new platform when it launches in beta next month, you should think twice and maybe consider skipping it. Why? Because it was almost certainly get hacked. In fact, in the time it took us to investigate that likelihood, it actually got hacked.
Everything gets hacked, it’s the nature of the net, why bother to “warn” people except to possibly scare them away? If people believe they can get on the internet, anywhere, social media or not and not chance the possibility of getting “hacked”, they’re crazy, stupid, or both.
Bonhoeffer did a lot of new reading while stationed by the German Resistance at the RC Benedictine abbey at Ettal in Bavaria, continuing to work on his life’s great project. There he appropriated certain categories from Catholic moral theology such as ‘invincible ignorance’ and ‘economy of truth’ in countering the Kantian critique of pure and practical reason, and in coming to grips with the idiocy of the Nazis on the one hand and the self-delusion of Germans who thought that, by not becoming directly complicity in their crimes, they could remain morally untainted.
Personally, I bristle at the word "backwards" when referring to sociological behavior, I prefer to say that many states and many people simply prefer "traditional values and traditional norms" to modern forms of "change".
I had to pull some data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics this morning for some research I'm conducting. The left-hand column is state name, middle is the current unemployment rates in those states in reverse order, and on the right are the governor party affiliations. You make of it what you want, but there seems to be a pattern here at the highest and lowest unemployment rates.
@opipeman I thought so too. I also find it interesting that 67% of the states above the median unemployment rate are 'D's while 78% of those under the median are 'R's.
[Note: Even though most economists agree that DC acts autonomously and this is why the Bureau includes it in its state unemployment data, I didn't include it in the median percentages]
While interesting, I don't see enough information to draw a conclusion. To connect the rate to the governor would require historical comparisons, Covid responses and population fluctuations at the very least.
Certainly, but that is exactly why this data is significant even though not fully controlled by a proper set of determinants.
Governors, for the most part, control responses to Covid. It seems reasonable to conclude that democrat-controlled states have had more draconian responses to Covid than states with republican governors--i.e., shut down economic activity more completely and for longer periods of time. Furthermore, it also seems reasonable to conclude that population growth rates tend to be correlated with changes in tax rates (either by higher taxes making constituents leave, or lower taxes in other states that attract constituents) and economic activity (i.e., people tend to move to states where economic activity is highest), again, two areas which are either heavily influenced by the governors (e.g. taxes) or directly a result of governor policy (e.g., attracting business to your state through incentive programs).
In either case, it is the governor that has quite a bit of influence over the unemployment rates in their states.
Ahhh, yet another democrat icon goes down in flames! Aren't democrats such great protectors of women's rights...we must all follow their lead to make sure ALL women are protected!
In the old days, Bill Maher would be about as left wing as you can get, but he's sensible, a lot like Alan Colmes was, so it's interesting when he states something like this as it shows that the vast majority of the democratic party is actually even further left than he is.
I don't like Bill Maher but I will say he hasn't hesitated to criticize the interim president, the supposed vice-president and the rest of the democratic party now that he doesn't have President Trump to kick down.

I'll do that.

Sir, I’d expect nothing less from a gentleman. There is so much free floating nonsense that the atmosphere has become toxic.
