Couldn't figure out exactly where to put this, so here goes.... The wife made an unusual request (for her) and suggested we take a drive over to Mobile to visit the Robert Moore Christmas Town. From a retail perspective, it has everything from Christmas Collectibles to Santa suits. They also have three locked display cabinets filled with Nutcrackers of all types.
What really surprised me was this one display of Nutcrackers. Look closely and tell me what sets these apart from those you find in other stores.
They almost all have pipes🙂. The reflection on the glass makes it looks like one of the glass smoke rooms in the airport all filled with smoke🙂 (I have not been in an airport for ~20-25 years, so I don’t even know if those glass smoking rooms in airports even exist anymore?).
@PappyJoe they are German smokers. You put incense cones in them and light it....the incense that is not the little wooden dude. It's a German Tradition thing. I have several I put out each Christmas but my wife dislikes the incense more than she dislikes English blends, so they don't often get lit. I should try putting some figgy pudding from the squire in them.
I would have never guessed the ones with the pipes were incense burners because most of the pipes had the caps on them. I thought they were just made to look like nutcrackers. Where do you put the incense?
It looks like @Zouave1864’s maybe burns the incense in his head and puffs out his mouth? Sounds dangerous, the little wooden buddy might get torched, or are the main bodies made of ceramic/clay?
@Zouave1864, @PappyJoe Ok, so I just went and found some of those incense burners. I kinda like Freddie of the Forest, but at $245😳, he’s not coming to my house….he stays in the forest.
@RockyMountainBriar and @PappyJoe if you lift the body apart, there is a hollow space in the center with a small metal dusk to place the incense on. You pit the body back together and the smoke billows up through the mouth so they look like they are puffing away. When I get home from work I'll take more pictures and post them.
This "Flying Boat" fire suppression airplane rescue was performed by Billings Air Service, a Helicopter company here in Billings Montana. They are also the company involved with our hospital emergency helicopter medivac/transportation. I always wanted to fly helicopters. https://youtu.be/obkzuBZmUOI

That’s the reverse of the old George Jones song, “The One I Loved Back Then” (The Corvette Song).🙂

Those are pretty cool. I’d like to see one lit. I don’t like incense either, but they are neat.

That's price is probably why the ones I saw were all in locked display cases.
Yours are both pretty cool.
Hmm….wood, fire, does look a little dangerous, kinda like smoking in bed😳
I don’t even light candles in my house. I don’t like their scents anyway.
Wow those are really cool 😎

Try a bees wax candle from a beekeeper, it will change your mind!
Nope, it will not, has not🙂
The world has turned up side down.
It's what happens when wealth and power are the goals of the people, you get greed and violence.
