A few years ago a friend I grew up with, that now lives in Tennessee, had someone ahead of him jump out of his car at a stoplight and proceed to my friend’s vehicle brandishing a handgun. My friend did have a CCW permit and ready access to a handgun. He also had a dash-cam running at all times when he was driving. He stayed in his vehicle and called 911. He did not brandish his own weapon, but he was ready to respond with it. The person eventually got back in their car and left. He turned the video over to the police and the person was arrested and charged. I don’t recall what the charges were? My friend did not and does not know what prompted the “road rage” incident.
You're friend did exactly the right thing and most people don't know what prompts this crap. A few years ago I had someone pull up next to me and spit on my truck window. It was in Greensboro which is nothing but a bunch of useless libtards, so it was probably my Smith & Wesson stickers that triggered them. But, one thing I've trained myself to do as a responsible handgun owner and everyday carrier is that staying calm and thinking before reacting is always best policy. I got the license plate number but the 'urge' to chase was definitely there, but when carrying, you need to think twice (even three times) in situations like that. (I did report it to the police by the way, but they did nothing because nothing was damaged.)
I've been watching the Mauna Loa eruption since it started (I minored in geology in college for fun), but they finally have a live-stream up, which is pretty cool. The first link is the live stream and the second is to the USGS webcams which are still pictures taken every 15 minutes
@vtgrad2003, @RockyMountainBriar Thanks for sharing the stories. I think it's important to share so we can all learn. To me, there is something calming about carrying. I don't speed and I don't drive close to others and don't want to be bothered. It's probably also a good idea not to have guns or brand name stickers on your car. It's just bringing unnecessary attention to you.
When I was living in Bozeman Montana back in ‘96’-‘00’, I was driving home from work in my Fiero and when I stopped at a stoplight, I looked in the rear view and the guy behind me was holding his hand up in the “gun” sign. Beats the hell out of me. Nothing came of it, I have no idea what his problem was either. He might have had something “unexpected” happen had he tried to follow through on his “threat”.
@Londy3 Call me a redneck, I have two Fieros in the yard and one in my small garage.
Red ’84’ SE 2M4 3-speed with factory WS6 race package (quick ratio steering and race suspension) loaded with AC, cruise control, sunroof, electric windows, etc.- totaled after a head on into a Ford pickup at an intersection, the driver turned left in front of me🙁
Red ’85’ Sport 2M4 3-speed-threw a rod through the oil pan after several thousand miles of me owning it. It had a small knock when I bought it that I didn’t figure out until it cratered🙁
Black w/factory Silver striping ’86’ SE 2M6 w/automatic transmission🙁 (2.8L V6 with port fuel injection)-previous owner traveled scorrio gravel roads with the air cleaner partially open…cratered the piston rings🙁
I’d like to take the motor, tranny, AC, cruise, electric locks, sunroof, etc. off of the first ‘84’ and repair the 2nd ‘84’.
Then rebuild the motor in the ‘86’ into a “stroker”, and add the WS6 package from the first ‘84’…or just install a new aftermarket race suspension. Then find a Muncie 5-speed for it. OR Send it to V8 Archie’s and have them chop the roof 3”, install a ‘built’ Corvette V8 onto a factory Fiero Muncie 5-speed, install new race suspension and have it repainted White/Red/Black.
Oh, to be independently wealthy. A guy can dream can’t he? Maybe I will win the Montana Millionaire Lottery this year.
I like Tucker Carlson; controversial? yes. But (nearly) always seems to be well-researched and it's obvious he cares a lot about our country. I don't agree with everything he's ever said, but then, I'm an American, I don't have to.
@opipeman Funny, me too….and I haven’t bought a new car in almost thirty years. It’s nice to have “honest” people looking out for your interests……or is it dishonest people looking out for your interest……and the principle too.

Insane? At least stupid.
That's cool to see.

I had a Fiero too back when they first came out. Fun car, great memories.
Strange that guy did that. Just glad nothing came of it.
