Wife has left me alone all day for first time in four months. I have to be constantly re-bandaged and I did it my self this morning, for the first time ever. Sloppy job, but should suffice until.... I dunno.... maybe an hour from now? I mean, thanks be that the damn tube is out of me, but the "slowly" closing hole in my belly still -- not leaks -- but flows. Doc said I'm healing, but at 72, slowly. That's about the longest sentence he's said to me in the six (?) months since the first surgery. The day after Thanksgiving will be one year since this whole afflictions of Job thing began.
"Slowly but surely wins the race"......sounds like some constant and continuous improvement which is great. And the fact that your SWMBO leaves you to your own devices for the first in a long time indicates the she too is comfortable in her mind with your progress. You, like I am blessed with wives who are dedicated to their spouses....what a wonderful thing.
Remember that a positive mental attitude (as if I have to tell you) is equally, if not more important than the physical improvement. I am of the opinion that we can think and hope our way through damn near anything.
I will be in touch very soon....meanwhile God Bless
@motie2, I had a similar experience with a draining wound when my kidney was removed. I think it drained maybe three or four weeks. Hopefully you'll heal up soon. By the way, have you tried retro haling through that hole? That might close it up quicker.
As a new member I am just catching up on the forum and I'm very sorry to hear about all your medical issues. I will pray for you to have a complete healing speedily.
@motie2 What did he say about the status of healing thus far? You're frustration must be at it's peak. Try to stay strong no matter how upsetting this may be. Does he think it's possible another week may be sufficient? We're all rooting for you Gordon. You know that.
You've got this Gordon. You are a strong individual who will get through this.
I owe you a call here soon, I have been very preoccupied and very busy. I do not want to disturb you but I will get in touch. Stay strong, and always think beyond the problem at hand
Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes. I'm getting (another) second opinion on Monday. I'm very worried, and that's not even taking into account that I lost my 20% Medicare coverage due to an administrative screw up. Been trying to get coverage back since first week in September.
Keep at them Gordon, it is a crime that we have to deal with insurance SNAFU's at the times that we are down on our health and our outlook on life in general. It does not matter to them, we are just numbers and contributors to the most unfair and almost "criminal" health system in the world. DO NOT let that interfere with your mindset which must remain positive.
@motie2 Look what showed up today. I figure if I'm going to smoke and pray for your recovery, I might as well do it right! So that's Molto Dulce in a Carey pipe. Am I missing anything?
