just a standard Zippo. I got a nimrod thinking that it would be the cats meow. my grandfathers brother used one. not so much, back to the Zippo and haven't bothered with anything else since.
@bluecow Had a Nimrod back in the 60's. Served me well for many years until an unrepairable leak sprung up (no pun intended), and regrettably had to deep 6 it...
Those strike anywhere matches are more expensive than a Linse Lighter, I used to use them in the late fifties. My then girlfriend gave me a Rogers Rocket pipe lighter for Christmas in 58 which I carried with me many years.
Owners/Users of “better” butane lighters: Do you have one of these? Not essential, but helpful.
One end is for evacuating the lighter’s butane chamber, before refilling. The other is designed as a flame adjustment tool. Both work great with my Corona Old Boy.
@motie2 No difference than like a FMJ? I think you're wrong there. These are not standard pressure, +p. Ballistics also prove a different story. But, meh, it's all about shot placement anyhow.
FMJ rounds are not designed to expand on impact with a soft target, making them a poor choice for self-defense or hunting in most scenarios. But what the hell do I know?
As I recall reading back in the 70s, Dum Dums originally referred to the name of a particular munitions factory in India run for the British Army's needs.
Expanding bullets, also known colloquially as dumdum bullets, are projectiles designed to expand on impact. This causes the bullet to increase in diameter, to combat over-penetration and produce a larger wound. This leads to a living target being incapacitated faster.Wikipedia
Yup. It's thought that some of the soldiers were slicing an X across the flat-nose of the cartridges from Dum Dum, with that very thought in mind. Of course, that story may be apocryphal.
Of course, this was after the British Army had retired the Brown Bess musket in favor of breech-loaders.

This is what I have been using from my secret Santa. Otherwise, I use my trusty Zippo!
I like the copper zippo!
Any idea where that trench lighter came from? I've been looking and not finding anything like it.
....and @Beetleman: AMAZON

No idea, sir. I found it down an internet rabbit hole. Sorry. It is mighty cool though.......
I prefer ferrets and stoats, they are sooo cute🙂
Try searching for trench lighters on Amazon, I believe I ran across them for less than $30.00.
For size comparison...
Dum dums? Or perhaps XTP’s?
Those are speed loaders.
Refering to the bullets, not the speed loaders....
Ooooooh... Those are hollow point +p rounds. Strictly for defense, made to expand on impact to create massive internal damage.
Hollow points, dum dums, XTPs.... a difference that makes no difference is no difference.

It would be so much easier for all of us...🧙♂️
