I know there are more that I've visited, and I'll add to the list when I remember em. ;-)
@motie2 - It seems like the further South you go the more shops you find. Even though my local B&M is nothing like it was 25 years ago (very pipe centric) I’m still blessed to have one at all. The sad thing is that since they don’t have the tobaccos or pipes they once did I’m now kind of forced to use online retailers which only perpetuates the problem. I give them business any way I can.
@Bonanzadriver quite a list! You’ve visited all of those too?! I’m at Fort Bragg but didn’t realize there was a good shop in Southern Pines. Most of us go to Anstead’s in Fayetteville. I’ll have a o check out the shop in SoPi
@pappyjoe -- In the People's Republic of New Jersey you must drive a long way to find a pipe and tobacco shop, unless, of course, you cross the river into Babylon on the Hudson.
@motie2 - God has blessed some of us so we don't have to live in those dystopian areas. I was stationed in Gloucester City, NJ and we lived in Woodbury Heights but that was still when New Jersey was a free state.
@Bonanzadriver, being originally from Buffalo, I'm very well acquainted with Smokers Haven. The last time I visited Buffalo the shop was still on Main Street, this was in 1999. They moved at some point to I think West Seneca right outside Buffalo. I order from them once in a while. I made a point to ask the nice gentleman I talked to if this was the same that was on Main Street and he confirmed it.Nice people and continue to carry the torch.
I think I mentioned this on another thread but... Happy to say last July a new tobacco shop opened up and it's NOT a vape store. Yay! It's called The Cuban Cigar. They have a great selection of cigars and they do sell pipes and tobacco but I'm helping them with that. What I like best is they offer free coffee and have a nice smoke lounge with leather seating and all. I support them a lot.
One of the advantages of a local pipe shop is that if you are a regular customer and develop a relationship with the shop workers, they take care of you. My birthday is later this month and the wife said I could buy a new pipe as my present. As I was looking at the pipes in stock, I mentioned that to the manager and he said to let him know which one I wanted. I picked a Peterson Fermoy 80s (bent bulldog with a vulcanite stem) that had a price tag of $137 on it. He sold it to me for $100 before tax and threw in an ounce of tobacco to break it in and a small pack of pipe cleaners. He then gave it a quick clean and polish.
Thanks @PappyJoe ! I would be grateful to pass along some support to my guys and humbled to see the generosity of this group. I currently work for a unit that supports special warfare training, so I want to be deploying again for at least two years. But I’ll be sure to post here when I do
Well... so far I’ve yet to find a decent pipe shop (or even cigar shop) here in Madrid. Interestingly, no one vapes. Everyone smokes cigarettes or small cigars. One place had some cheaply made pipes but nothing I’d be interested in. I’ll keep searching.
@jfreedy You know, maybe it's just the thought of Spain being old world that I would have imagined there would be more pipe shops and for sure cigar shops. It's interesting what parts of the world are tobacco friendly and how they're friendly. So what I'm hearing is, if you're going abroad it's best to BYOP&T (bring your own pipes and tobacco)
Like trying to find a good eatin' spot, I've always thought that the best person to ask is a local someone who is out-and-about most days. Like a mailman.
I'm heading to Charlotte, NC mid February. Anyone in the area want to meet at McCrainie's Pipe Shop to smoke a bowl? I know a few of you live in the area.
Anyone here in the Nashville area? Im heading there for a week to do a little training. I’ve heard about two local shops, Smokers Abbey and UPtowns. Looking for recommendations or even a meet up if someone is local.
I'm heading to Las Vegas for business this week. I googled and found several pipe shops, but none look like dedicated pipe shops. Anyone been to Vegas recently? Any shop suggestions?

Were it not for P&C and Smokingpipes I probably would not have taken up the pipe again after several decades.
I say it again. A local pipe shop is one you can drive to without having to make a stop for the bathroom.
Some of us are fortunate in living in an advanced civilization where you can drive to a store, walk in and buy pipes and tobacco.

I know there's been some cool pipes coming from Japan. Is it a must travel destination for the pipe smoker?
