Welcome @beerandpipes! Glad you found us! I hope you enjoy the forum. It's a great group of folks who are a wealth of knowledge and always ready to help and share information. Cheers!
Thanks @motie2 and @Kmhartle. I'm sure that I'll be reaching out soon enough. I've been "smoking a pipe" for almost 3 years now. But the first year 2 years I really didn't do much in the way of learning. But within the last 8 months I've discovered the guys over at Country Squire and I've truly fallen in love with the art.
Welcome to the group @beerandpipes, @JONRW70, and @Erickr and to all the new new members! Glad to have you with us. Pull up a seat, light a pipe, and jump right in.

Greetings everyone. New to the forum here, but I like what I see so far. I found the forum through Country Squire Radio just last week. I also recently stumbled onto the podcast, so it's helping to pass the last few weeks of my deployment to Afghanistan.
A bit about me: I'm an Army Chaplain currently serving with an infantry battalion in the 82nd Airborne Division. I'm stationed at Ft Bragg in NC, but I call Chesapeake, VA home. I picked up pipe smoking right after high school and stuck with it through the years. I love just sitting out on the back porch with my brothers and dad and 'solving the problems of the world.' Like most people, I started out on aromatics blended by my local shop, but I have recently branched out into VA and English blends. Really enjoying Escudo, Orlik Golden Sliced, and Frog Morton. Eager to keep expanding the palate. Cheers, - Corey
@ChaplainCorey - Welcome to the forum. I have a friend who is also an Army Chaplain. He was a 2nd Class Petty Officer when he was assigned to the Public Affairs Office in New Orleans where he worked for me. He went to OCS and made Lieutenant (Army equivalent of Captain) then got out and went to seminary. Became a chaplain in the Army after 9/11. He's a Major and stationed in San Antonio but being posted to St. Louis soon I hear.
Hello everyone. I thought I would introduce myself. I am a newbie to pipes. I have only been smoking them the past month or so. I smoked pipes back in the early 80's and then got away from it. I now find myself anticipating the relaxing time with a pipe. I live in the New River Valley area of Virginia. At this point, everything is new to me. The amount of pipe tobacco that is available is overwhelming. Not sure where to start and what to get. I have one cheap pipe, a church warden because I enjoy the feel of holding it. I am carving a bowl for another just because I want to make my own pipe. I was hoping to find some free samples to try but it looks like the government has once again intruded into my life, and free tobacco samples are a thing of the past. I am disabled and on a fixed income so I cannot afford to buy samples left and right. I just need a good recommendation for a mild, fragrant, relaxing tobacco that I can sit and enjoy. Sorry I took up so much space. I am happy to be here and look forward to learning all I can.
